Tonk and Bonk
The Albany Dukes have pair of 25-year-old outfielders: 5'10" Tonk Robbins and 5'5" Scrappy Bonk (Tonk and Bonk). (these are generated names, not names I gave them, although I do have my own custom name file that intersperses nicknames-as-first-names)
They just turned in almost identical seasons. (And quite good seasons too - they both won "Platinum Stick Awards") Why do I get such a kick out of things like this? |

While this Tonk and Bonk stuff is all fine and dandy, the more important statement is ‘I’ve been playing this game for 6 months and didn’t know there was a player comparison screen!!!!!’ Please tell me this was new for 19

Scrappy Bonk may be the best name I've ever seen.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/45dtsl4vsj...names.txt?dl=0 What you would do is save first_names.txt under another name so that you don't lose the original (call it orig_first_names.txt or something like that). This is in the OOTP data/database folder. Then you would copy my file into that folder and call it first_names.txt. Then in the game under league settings -> database select "re-import name and ethnicity database" under the "Database Tools" dropdown. The game should then start using the new names. This file is probably best suited for 1920's baseball or thereabouts when nicknames-as-first-names were common. And the non-nicknames are geared for that era as well - lots of names like Joe, Harry, Fred, Charlie, Frank etc. It'd probably work well from 1900-1950 or so when nicknames as first names began to disappear. I'm not nearly so thorough and meticulous as someone like QuestDog who has some great early-baseball name sets, so there are probably mistakes in my file. But I had fun adding lots of off-the-wall nicknames that seemed appropriate. I also added a lot of sort-of-random non-traditional first names that aren't really nicknames. And there is also a smattering of last-names-as-first-names too. . I've been pleased with it so far. Some of the challenge of OOTP is bringing the players to life. Having a sprinkling of unusual or memorable names helps with this I think. Last edited by Cobby; 10-05-2018 at 12:39 AM. |

Tonk & Bonk
Let's just hope neither of them has to explain their nicknames to a Senate judiciary committee in 25 years.

Yeah, They just might be accused of spiking punch bowl & gang raping girls at, at least 10-12 parties in some town, on some street at a house somewhere because they didn't know how they got there. |

The real life Stubby Clapp would disagree.
