Player of the Week/Month Effects?

Does winning the player of the week/month increase a players local/national popularity? Or is this just a fluff thing?

If I had to guess it would just improve how they feel about the way they are playing. Would be cool if it increased popularity.

i don't think winning a gold glove improves your defense... if it does... think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit... kidding... if it does it was a TCR-related or normal development toward potential and simply coincidental in timing.

I'm not sure I understand your comparison. Defense getting better because you win a fielding award seems completely different than a player's local/national popularity increasing because they win an award (player of the week/month, any postseason award).

The award would increase recognition across regions, and thus could potentially increase popularity, at least that is the way I see it. That connection makes sense.

Your example of a players defensive ABILITY increasing because of winning a fielding award would make for an extremely poor game mechanic, broken in my view.

Popularity is not an ability that effects performance, defense is. Your comparison is apples to oranges.

yeah, it could increas popularity.. i added a ? because i've never proven it to be true. never cared to look. i ignore that stuff 99% of the time.

if it increases ability, it's abjectly ******ed. it lacks any causality. an award doesn't make you stronger or smarter etc... just as hving a good game doesn't make you better... you have to learn something during that goood game for that to be true... and it being a "good" result isn't required at all.

cause and effect... an award has no real effect outside of human perception, which isn't anything at all.

sure, anything that puts your name out there increases your name recognition. there is cause and effect there. does it in game? again, i don't care enough to look, lol. (that means i don't care if wrong, either) however, i'd wager money on it, though. seems pretty much a sure thing.
