Gaming setup
Did some rearranging and decided to hook my gaming pc to my 65" sony 4k hdr tv. Gotta say ootp looks fantastic on it. Bright colors and text looks great.
Great not to have to sit up close to a monitor all the time. Still need to get a better video card. Whats your gaming setup? |

i have a 60" plasma and my denon av receiver just took a poop on me
![]() infinitiy sm155 front, sm85 rears cc3 center. a polk psw1000 sub. i worked at an electronics store from hs to college, lol. wouldn't pay full price for that junk, ever. good news is i just have to replace a couple caps or something worth $2-5 in parts... bad news is i am no expert at soldering and can easily blow fuses if/when i mess up. i have an old receiver but no hdmi inputs on it... too old. my pc too old to talk about the GPU, lol. i don't "game" anymore or much in recent past. tips on buying -- don't get the "e-peen" models. in general if they use the same firmware, don't pay extra for the bells and whistles that rarely are worth the money. if you want the next 'tier' gpu, get the next tier... don't get the "9050" whichi is just the "9000" in a fancy dress... you can usually get 3rd party firmware to unlock the tings you don't get or increase clock/ram speed etc to match the so-called better model of the same tier. overclocking capability is a joke in 99.99% contexts. don't let that sway a decision.. again a 3rd party firmware or somethign like afterburner can give you those capabilities most times, anyway if you really want it for any popular/current model. don't buy off-brand to save $10-20. you will get a crap heat-sink and the card won't even be able to be utilized to its fullest extent because it's temperature would rise too high and shut off. if you do buy nice stuff -- including the CPU -- pick up some "thermal gel" as you will need to replace it for the GPU and CPU every ~6months or so. good way to know: out of the box, take note of the resting temperature of each. when you see that it's +5, or whatever, in future, go ahead and strip the old therma gel and re apply.. plenty of videos to explain how much. don't mimic the oem. they gunk it on to the point of a negative effect.
