First round byes and rust

Do teams accumulate rust if I give them a first-round bye? I want 6 teams to make the playoffs, giving the two top seeds a first-round bye. But I am worried they will accumulate rust and not play as well in the second round.

you accumulate rust during offseason and long-term injuries.

as long as no rust exists, and on a 25-man roster (maybe 40-man with reserve rule??), you should be fine.

i do use a bye week, fwiw. 7 in out of 30, like a 1/2 nfl playoff schedule. i'm still winning roughly the same number of WS relative to 2 rounds and the dynamics few teams allowed in.
