How would you handle tie?
In 1899 i am using the National League setup of just one league.
I have the #1 and #2 teams playing the world series. Problem is they both finished with exactly the same record. I could have a playoff of 1 or 3 games for the #1 seed but one team is still going to get the extra home game. But the #1 seed does get the extra world series game at home. I think ootp has the correct standings because i counted Baltimore has winning head to head matchups. Did ootp use that to choose or is it going by alphabetical order? I think i will just go with the the way the way ootp has them but are the standings correct? Anyway here is how the standings look. |

I would give the extra home game to winner of season series. If that is tied games won against 3rd place team.

i'm not a fan of 1-game vs 162 games worth of data like RS-RA difference or something strongly correlated to a winning season.
~18 games or more vs each other is likely better at picking the 'best' team of the two than a 1-game playoff too. maybe better than rs differential? whatever the math dictates, i just want the better team in the playoffs more times than other configurations. no matter what you choose, sometimes the wrong team will get in. the only thing you can do is reduce that percentage as best you can.... or not if you like cinderella stories... guess i shoudln't assume. 1-game playoffs would help produce more opportunities for that to occur. |

Well i checked and Baltimore had a 8-6 series lead.
So however ootp sorted it out, it looks like they got it right. Ironically it didnt matter as Chicago took 2 games in Baltimore to win the series 4-2. |

In my experience, OOTP solves this tiebreaker by using head to head. In my league the top 2 teams go to the World Series, and every time there is a tie the team that won the season series gets the home field advantage.

I am curious as to why the game didn't schedule at least a 1 game playoff. I had a custom playoff scheduled but that was for the world series. in cases in which the winning pctg was close but the games played were different i believe i saw a 1 game playoff. Cant remember if it was in 2 leagues or one league setup. |

We only schedule 1-game playoffs if that affects who makes it in or not. If all that matters is home field, then we just use something similar to MLB tiebreakers, with head to head first, followed by division and intra-league records, and then i think we do some runs for/runs against calculations.

Well after dealing with that tie my league puts up a 3 way tie.
Wonder if the game has a goal of every team tied at the end of the year. It has Philadelphia playing Pittsburgh. So im guessing the winner will play Brooklyn with the winner going to the series. Kinda weird though. Last edited by BaseballMan; 09-04-2018 at 07:59 PM. |

why they play next depends on playoff options -- reseed or not checked. no reseed, they go to the next team lined up in grid (playoff coverage) or if reseeded, they'll put highest vs lowest.
you can turn off the 1-game playoff in the options, too. rules? options? tab... thereabouts? |

I would have my own personal list of tiebreaker order kind of like the NFL has. I would do head to head record, then overall runs scored, something like that. You could add four or five more, then just have the final level be a coin toss that you actually do in the worst case scenario (that would never actually happen).

I still need to update though I'm still on .59. I waited out the .64 and onward stuff but I need to update now that everything is back to normal. So I still haven't used the new shop player(s) features that came with the recent patches. Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk |
