New guy looking for help
Just bought the game. Loving the depth to it, but after searching the forums and YouTube still confused. Im 40 games into my season and I've had 3 SP injuries, and 1 RP.
I had to juggle switching RP and a few starts and already ran into the waiver DFA problem. A guy refused to go to the minors. Had a full active roster so had to send another one to waivers who got snatched up. Now, i have 2 SP coming off of the DL in 14 days and i don't exactly know how to get them in my lineup without losing the two who i had to move into that role. Both are out of options.. Any ideas?? Also, second question. Can i continue to do 1o day DLS over and over? I did 60 day DL and both pitches have been healthy for about 10 days before the DL runs out. I just didn't know how DL works. Thanks |

If they are effective and you have relievers with options, you could move those starters to the bullpen and move a couple of relievers to AAA. Another option is to use the rehab option. Especially if either of the starters coming off the DL haven't pitched for a month or more then they will be "rusty". You can send them to the minors for a rehab assignment, knocking the rust off of them and giving you more time to sort out your roster. As a last resort, you can look to trade any of the four pitchers that are causing your roster issue. It sounds like you have an excess of starting pitching so this could be a way to improve yourself in another area while also solving your roster issue.
As for your 2nd question, think of the length of the disabled lists as a minimum. They can stay on there until the end of the season if needed. The difference is that the 60 day also removes the guy from your 40 man roster while the 15 or 10 day one won't. |

Thanks for the reply. So it will be a pain getting my two starters back. I will give them rehab assignments im just very concerned about how I'll get back to active roster size without losing them. MLB roster changes are complex compaired to NFL

Are you past the trade deadline? You could move your weakest starter.
I'd rehab them to the minors, which is 30 days max for pitcher iirc. Someone else will pop a ligament and you can move them to the majors. |

On the bright side, if you have to designate a player for assignment & waive them, you hang on to them if nobody claims them. And if somebody claims them, you might be able to work out a trade so that you at least get something instead of just losing a player outright.

This is only true if you "Waive" them.If you "Waive and Designate For Assignment" and someone claims them, they're gone. You get nothing. |

Not sure OOTP allows humans to trade guys on waivers. That may have changed I should check

I would stop simming for 30 minutes and figure out the 40 man. Do you have 4 catchers, 1 is useless so waive and DFA. DO you have 7 OFs? Waive one, too many IF? move one off the 40 man.
Making sure I have some breathing room on the 40 is one of my priorities when I start with a new team. The 25 man can be a headache if you have too many players without options. You may need to make a trade or two just to get some guys you can move up and down. I do this as a part of roster managment when I have to. Sometimes I do not get the value I like but I get the freedom I need.

This. If the waivers are irrevocable, the player will be gone.
The manual page does a decent job of explaining this stuff in an OOTP context (sez me, who wrote that section many versions ago haha ):http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...and_management http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...9&page=waivers
