When Storyline Injuries Go Wrong

Attached below are two images of a storyline injury that didn't make sense to be given to the player it was given to. I highlighted important areas of the screen in red because I'm not sure how it will show up on here. But yeah I found it amusing anyway but it does kind of irk me at the same time lol.

Video review overturned the original home run call on the field!

Plot twist: It was in batting practice.

hahahahaha Maybe it was the kicker from the Cardinals who injured himself when he jumped after making a FG. Only now he was trying BB.

Lol these are some good responses. The instant replay one would be hilariously bad karma. Maybe I should try to find the game log from that game and see if that did indeed happen lol.

Just another example of OOTP's dedication to realism and a sim experience. It says right there in the story that he flubbed the landing, ostensibly never touching home plate. He was likely taken immediately to the clubhouse to deal with his gruesome flexy-broken leg and put out on appeal by the opposing team after making no effort to touch the base beforehand.

I play, or watch (depending on my mood and if I'm busy with other stuff) every game so it may take a while to see his career progress but I will update from time to time.

He inspired me to start a new "Storyline Players" Shortlist where I can easily keep track of players involved in storylines that catch my interest.

Complaints about this particular storyline crop up every so often. It's probably time to retire it.

Either that or make it have in game play by play that coincides with it on an actual homerun so that it makes sense at least.

The dreaming up scenarios of what really happened was amusing though.

While I appreciate the irony of the original comment, for those who aren't aware, this really happened 8 years ago...

Wow, can't believe that was 8 years ago now. Also can't believe they misspell Kendrys' first name in every instance in this article.

I can’t remember exactly when it changed, but I think he went by Kendry early on in his career.

Apparently, the paperwork when he signed with the Angels in the 2000s accidentally omitted the S, so MLB had him as Kendry, but his name was actually misspelled even years before that, and he did not bother to correct it until 2011.

That would be ideal, but currently there is no way for a storyline to be triggered by an in-game event. Maybe that function will be added eventually, but until then this storyline will continue to affect random players at random times during the season.

Interesting, I don't ever remember seeing his name spelling as anything other than Kendrys and that was when I actually followed real life baseball closely. Maybe I did see it as Kendry a few times and just brushed it off as a typo.
