It's funny how I drift away from OOTPB sometimes . . .
. . . only to always come back to it with a bang. It happened again just now.
To be honest, I had not played much of OOTPB 19 this year, although I did "keep in touch." Now with the game restored to stability and smooth operation, I started looking at it again today. Snap! That feeling of satisfaction and joy. It happens every time. Here we go again.

Glad to read something positive after that 19.8.64 disaster

I find keeping at least two leagues running concurrently helps me stay involved; one of my leagues is always a Historical Random Debut and the second is a what if scenario (aka crockpot idea) usually starting in the ‘30s which usually goes to hell in a hand basket in a hurry quickly to be replaced by a different idea.

Good suggestion, JaBurns. I find what has worked for me to prolong the times between ebbing interest in OOTPB is to play out all my games. I used to want to rush ahead to accumulate history and statistics but lately I have realized that the best level of immersion is on the day-to-day level. For me, at least.
If that means finishing a season only once a month or so, then it also means moving ahead and actually accumulating history and statistics because, net, I will be playing the game longer. Too often, 10 or 15-year-old leagues go into the dustbin due to lack of sustained interest. I want one league to persist from one version of OOTPB to the next, as I have seen other players talk about here. I think I am on the right track for that now. Of course, I will put OOTPB aside again for a while but as I said in the beginning, I will always come back to it. Snap!

good thread, same experience.
I manage every game & have that season going. maybe 8-9 years into it (maybe more). finally starting to see some of my draft picks make a difference at the MLB level. very satisfying & still as interesting as ever, if not more. my quickstart is slowly becoming fictional & feels natural. a season per month sounds about right. I've tried simming, but lose interest quickly. not sure how others do it.
