Very strange FA decision

This is for a simmed league in 2021 offseason, Rowdy Tellez, who's had a solid career so far, has a breakout season for the San Diego Padres,
He played 161 games hit .279/.331/.515, 39 HR 117 RBIs. HR was 6th most in the NL, RBI was 4th most.

He made $5.6 million for that season on an arbitration deal. Padres do not offer his arbitration so he became a FA on 11/21/2021 at the age of 26. So on 11/22/2021, literally the next day, he signs a FA deal with the.... Carmen Delphins of the Mexican League for...$10,000.

He didn't even wait to see if he would get another offer from another MLB club and signs for $10,000 in Mexico. There should be some kind of AI logic where players don't sign with foreign leagues until they run out of chances with MLB teams. There is no way in real life a guy who put up those numbers don't hold out for a MLB job. And there is no way some club wouldn't have offered him in the minimum $2-3 mil range through the FA period and instead let him walk away to Mexico for $10,000.

Rowdy's dream as a child was to play for the Carmen Dolphins, whom he spent his formative years rooting for with his Papa and Abuelito.

Of course. The Dept. of Defense does pay them to do so. At least in the NFL they do. They won't stop or they'll lose money.
