Solid 1B or All-Star Closer

I acquired a player from the Mexican League (fictional) who has been an all-star 1B there and promises to be a plus 1B in the majors. However, he was a dominant college pitcher who projects easily as an all-star closer. Unfortunately, he can't start, so I can't see an easy way to let him be a two-way player, hence the question:
All other things being equal, would you rather have a solid 1B or an All-Star closer?

Why can't he start?

If he's going to be coming off your bench as a field player, then absolutely put him at closer. Or hell, have him do both!

He only has two pitches, so he can't start, and he ranks above average among starting 1B with solid average and plus power, so if he's a 1B he'll be starting 150 games a year.
For perspective, on an 80 scale, as a 1B he's 51 current/62 potential and as a closer he's 80/80.

Why can't he be the closer?

Sign a good defensive 1B for your bench.

Swap the set up man for the first baseman in the 9th, substitute the bench 1B for the set up man.

I sim most of the season, plus I'd lose the DH, so in close games if he doesn't nail down the save, I've put myself way behind for the win in extra innings. Couldn't pitch him in tie games/extra-inning games for the same reason. He could only close, and only come in at the start of an inning if I want him warmed-up.

Oh, I see what you mean. I thought you were saying he can’t start base.

If I use the Team Position Overview chart, he'd be the 8th best closer, the 21st best 1B, and the 18th best 3B if I convert him to 3B.

I've had two-way relievers in DH leagues before. They're a pain to deal with.
