Edit Harrison Bader
How do I edit (e.g. what do I edit) to get Harrison Bader to be the stud defensive CF in OOTP to match his real life performance?
I have gone into editor and changed the following: Outfield Range 175 Outfield Error 150 Outfield Arm 125 Any thoughts or tweaks? Should I also edit speed because he has to be one of the fastest guys in the league (I'm thinking easy top 10) but I haven't looked through the editor to find a suitable number.

I would recommend copying Kevin Pillar's ratings. I looked at Pillar today, and he immediately reminded me of Bader from the standpoint of speed and defense. Bader might have a tick more speed but his stealing and baserunning are not as developed as Pillar.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.
Also as a quick admin note I had to simulate a day before the changes in edit actually showed up in Bader's profile.

ST. LOUIS -- Harrison Bader added another defensive gem to his season highlight reel when he laid out to rob Bryce Harper of a hit in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the Nationals. With a runner on first and one out, Harper stung a 96.9 mph line drive to left-center. Bader gave chase and covered 68 feet in 4.2 seconds, according to Statcast™, before making the diving grab. With a 55-percent catch probability, it was Bader's 26th catch of at least three stars this season.

Yeah, I should've upgraded his defense before now. I thought I'd done it already but nope, missed it somehow
![]() It's done now, but unfortunately that doesn't really help for this year ![]() I would agreed that rating him similarly to Pillar (or Kiermaier) would make sense. I put his "official" ratings a teensy bit lower than that for now since I'd like to see him establish more of of a track record before putting him fully in such rarefied company, but that's just personal taste. Overall he's definitely in their range as a defender.

Most times if I were to see a thread created by Cardinals fans talking about re-rating Cardinals players, I'd just snicker and move on (as a Cubs fan ought to, naturally). But, you guys have a point. And because I traded for Bader in my current day +2 team expansion OOTP save, I became interested as well.
Now, he only has 550 or so innings in the bigs this year, which comes out to about 60 games, but he's burning up all the Statcast leaderboards, the DRS leaderboards. Eye test also. Near the very top in Sprint Speed. What I did to rate him in the most unbiased way I could think of, was I found comparable players to which he was most similar in each metric. Maybe 4 or 5 such players for each stat. Then I averaged their OOTP ratings and gave that average rating to Bader. I think Pillar might be a good comp for Bader's range, but I don't think Bader is quite as good of a defender. That is to say, Bader's speed and range is what is really making his defense stand out rather than what he does when he gets to the ball (which is more above average than super human). I also changed Bader from a "spray hitter" to a "pull hitter" although I didn't touch his bating attributes other than that. Here are the ratings I came up with for Harrison Bader (on the 1-250 scale in the editor) if anyone wants to know: Running Speed - 181 Stealing Ability - 131 Baserunning Skills - 125 Outfield Range - 170 Outfield Error - 135 Outfield Arm - 147 As result of these ratings, his positional ratings are: LF (experience 166/200) - 173 CF (experience 200/200) - 158 RF (experience 183/200) - 170 Note the experience levels are just how I've been utilizing him on my team over the previous year or so rather than anything you'd want to copy into your game. |

Ayyyy Bader went to my HS! The whole school has been following him, we're seeing STL caps in our normally 90% NYY classes, it's nuts! Anyway, I'd lower his defense a bit from Pillar/Kiermaier just because a rookie should establish a track record.

It's sad that I can't fix this in Challenge Mode. Right now, Fowler is better in center field than Bader.
