Exclamation Crashes in 19.8.69?

Alright, let's sort this out.... first off, we are really sorry, we are in a slump it seems. But we are working as hard as humanly possible to get this sorted out, trust me.

So, the majority of crashes reported from version 19.8.69 happen during simulating / advancing a day. We have already identified this issue and a hotfix will be released in a couple of hours.

Still, a few users report they have performance issues (long lags between screen changes or when playing out games). These should definitely not happen anymore, so please make absolutely sure 19.8.69 is the version you have installed. To check, start OOTP, and at the bottom of the entry screen check the version number.

If you have 19.8.69 installed, and the game still crashes while playing out a game (NOT when simulating!) or is very slow when switching screens, please update your graphic card drivers and try again. If it still has issues, please report back here and let us know your detailed system specs, and what exactly happens.

Thank you for your support!
Markus

I just read this and canceled my 19.8.69 update.

How about deleting that 19.8.69 hotfix download before more people download it and causing them problems they didn't have before.

Yes, good idea. Did that.

Played an inning of a league game -- steam installed version -- lag doesn't seem quite as bad.

Maneuvering within lineup seemed all right.

But there is the spinning blue circle of death between every pitch or play, that lasts for maybe 1-3 seconds.
I am sure that will add up over the course of nine innings.

Also, the game is playing in 2D, 3D is not an option.
Didn't go beyond an inning due to time (4:30 a.m.), will have more time Friday p.m.

3D is not an option? Do you have 3D / openGL enabled in the game settings?

That 1 second delay and the spinning wheel is normal, it does that for me too and has always been that way as far as I am aware. The system needs time to set up & draw the screen.

Exclamation

This last hotfix (69) appears to make the blue spin last a bit shorter which is good news but it still exists. It was definitely quicker before these patches came out. It feels like I am running OOTP18 now, OOTP19 from the start was running much smoother on my machine.

My specs:
Alienware17R3
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 980M with 8GB GDDR5 - graphic drivers are updated
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6820HK (Quad-Core, 8MB Cache, Dynamical ly Overclocked up to 4.1GHz)

~1,500 MB memory use when the program is on.

I use the game for my league (ABL), I move between screens, and I autoplay to run league sims. I do not play the games manually or use the 3D stuff.

I have not tried the new hotfix(70) that was posted by Lukas early this AM.

Well, to be sure this is not a "things being better in memory" situation I suggest that you try out one very early patch, for example this:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=287293

For me the game is now as fast as it always was (the blue spin exists for many versions now, it's just indicating the system is working drawing the screen), and the code that caused the slowdown on (mostly) AMDs is gone, it's now the same as it was in earlier OOTP 19 releases. Maybe something on your machine now interfers with the game if it is indeed slower than before...

While the circle has always appeared, it used to be very brief. It now comes up long enough to watch it spin. Same thing when opening emails. Other related issues: when loading a league after it loads, it sits for 5-10 seconds greyed out until you can actually access the league- it always did this but for not nearly as long. Last night I loaded a league and it took long enough that "not responding" appeared. I just accessed "offseason center" and it took 9 seconds to load.

Also, if I have the game minimized and bring it up, I can not click on anything for 5-10 seconds- the cursor remains an arrow rather than a finger. I understand that memory is an unreliable thing, but I have been playing OOTP for over 10 years with multiple online leagues at the same time. There is a lot of screen switching and I usually let OOTP run in the background on my computer. I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining this.

AMD FX-4300 3.8 Quad core
AMD R7 370
Windows 10 64 bit
8 gigs RAM

We have bought an AMD PC and will test it more next week, but as I said, build 19.8.70 should essentially now be the same as build 19.7, the code is identical when it comes to screen drawing / changing. We'll see what we find next week...

Edit: Just for comparisons I just installed 19.2, and on my 5-year old Intel PC it is 100% identical to 19.8.70 when switching between screens etc.

I'm sorry, but I just loaded 70, and that didn't do it.

I accessed "News" from the league drop down- it took 24 seconds to come up. Actually it didn't come up, it stopped spinning and I clicked "News" again and it came up immediately. If I have the game minimized and I bring it up, it takes 7-10 seconds before I can click on anything. I can do this back and forth and it happens every time.

I just accessed "Pitching" from the team drop down. The circle appeared for about 20 seconds. The screen came up but then I couldn't click on anything for about 15 seconds with "not responding" flashing on and off.

Are you 100% sure you got it properly installed? Try a complete uninstall / reinstall please.

I wish I could, but I have to head into work now. I'll re-install this weekend.

EDIT: I did have Steam verify files.

If you have Steam, try uninstalling, quit the Steam client, launch it again, and then reinstall OOTP again. The OOTP entry screen should read 19.8.70 at the bottom.

Ok, thanks

Can you also try restarting your computer as well. Basic stuff I know and it might not help but best to get the simple possibilities out of the way first.

I understand you're legitimately frustrated but spamming these posts doesn't help anything and it actually wastes our time to try to respond to all of them. So you're actually hurting things, not helping. Posting once that you still have a problem is enough, we're reading everything people post.

Steady there, mickey7. Believe me, this is frustrating beyond belief. I'm in the same boat. Just know that these guys are working like crazy to get this worked out. And dealing with so many computers with so many setups is NOT easy.

Nobody has their customers back like the OOTP devs. They want nothing more than to make this right. They will get it done. They always do
