Iowa Hawkeye Football

Ok, as a UI alum (MA 1976), I was wondering what other Hawkeye fans thought about our football chances this year. Is this going to be a year where we fall back in the standings (as all the football mags predict) or can we repeat some of our success from last year? I know that tomorow will be a better test of how good we are than the first two games of the year. (Who couldn't beat Buffalo by 50 points?)

And did Brad Banks hook up with any NFL team?

Banks is with the Redskins.

As for Iowa's chances, I'd say that there is no way they can be as good as they were last year. I'd imagine that they'll fall closer to the middle of the pack this year.

Sorry, Sporr, but I think you're mistaken.

Banks isn't on any NFL rosters. Ladell Betts is on the Redskins roster.

I think the Hawkeyes still have the potential to surprise people this year. Most of the talk has been about Chandler and whether he's a good enough QB - he's done well so far but the real test will be this weekend. Not only is it his first road game, but it's the big rivalry.

Overall, I think the Hawks will finish with 2 (maybe 3) losses, nothing like last year but a good season nonetheless. The real tough games will be vs. Michigan, at OSU, and at Wisconsin. Iowa State is a pushover as far as I'm concerned ... no problems there

Oh yeah - GO HAWKS!!!!!

Thanks ExposFan, that's where I went wrong. I knew about the signing, but missed out on the release.

I think Iowa can be a good team this year. I don't think they can contend with Ohio St. and Michigan but Purdue is a nice match-up for them.

I won't kid you, that date has the team concerned. Don't think for a minute they're overlooking Northern Illinois. Your Huskies are GOOD this year.

Tennessee Tech could have beaten Northern Illinois. It was a ****ing shame I say.

Anyways, IMO I think Iowa will finish behind Michigan, OSU, Purdue and Minnesota in the Big Ten.

You really believe that??? Michigan and OSU maybe, but we'll definitely finish ahead of Purdue and Minnesota (sorry Twins15).

Banks was picked up by the skins, but cut. They have a very nice team this year, I would certainly call them more then a "middle of the pack" team but not 11-2, i think around 8-4 or 9-3 would be realistic. No co-big ten title this year though.

Yes, I really believe that. Iowa returns like one offensive starter this year. Their running game should be alright, but besides that I really don't see how they will have great success in the Big Ten. Wisconsin will also finish ahead of Iowa. I seemed to forget them.

Wow, with their dominating win this past week it looks like I may have underestimated them.

Iowa is now #9 in the ESPN/USA Today poll!!!

The defense did a great job Saturday against ASU. They made their offense look like a high school offense.

Now the tough part - the schedule is brutal but we're on a roll now.
