The Mustangs advanced to the finals, but no thanks to Jamie, who blew a save in his first appearance and gave up 4 runs in his second. Hopefully he performs better in the championships.

Pat earned his first career win on the 19th by pitching a scoreless inning against the Angels. He blew his second save the next day, although the runs allowed were not attributed to him. He still has an ERA of 0.00 in 7 games, registering 8 strikeouts.

Not only is Jamie a champion, but he was awarded the win in the clinching game over the Helena Brewers. It was the only time he pitched in the series. Even if this is the end of the road for Jamie, I'm glad he got to have a full and exciting season as a professional baseball player after all that time waiting around.

On the same day Jamie became a champion, Pat gave up 3 runs in 0.2 innings against the A's, making his ERA 3.86. The magic number for the Rangers to win a wild card spot is 5.

Pat finished his first month as a major leaguer with a 1-2 record and a 6.23 ERA in 11 games. He struck out 12 and had a -0.5 ERA. The Rangers won the wild card race with a 91-71 record and will play at home against the White Sox, but will do so without Pat, who was not eligible for the playoff roster as a September call-up.

I will sim the playoffs and update here:

The Rangers beat the White Sox 6-5 in the wild card game. They play the division-rival Astros in the next round.

The Rangers beat the Astros in 4 games. Jurickson Profar was the series MVP. The Rangers will play the Red Sox in the ALCS.

The Red Sox beat the Rangers in 5 games. Grant Burton was the series MVP. They'll play the Dodgers, who have made it to the World Series for 3 straight years now. Can they win 3 in a row?

The Dodgers won in 7. Michael Reed was the MVP.

Todd Helton was inducted to the Hall of Fame.

Chris was released by the Dodgers today. I don't see why anyone would want a 25-year-old with no future at this point, but hey, he's always managed to find somewhere to play so far.

Pat was sent to AAA after a rough spring, in which he gave up 5 runs in just 1.1 IP. He'll be the setup guy in Round Rock under manager Jason Wood and pitching coach Greg Hibbard, who specializes in power pitchers and should have a positive influence on Pat.

Everyone survived the post-draft cuts, but Jon Murray will need Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL on the 21st, which means he's out for over a year. Huge bump in the road for this 21-year-old, who the OSA now says has 1 star potential.

The now 26-year-old Jamie Schuschnig was sent to the DSL Reds and has played 8 games there, going 1-0 with a 2.30 ERA. He is being used as a long reliever.

Mark hasn't played at all for the AZL Brewers and isn't expected to.

Pat is now the closer for the Round Rock Express, but he hasn't been performing. He's 2-3 with 6 saves and a 5.26 ERA with 31 Ks in 26 games. The Rangers MLB bullpen has been awful though, with only 1 guy having an ERA below 4.00, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot this year.

Jamie is having a slump. He's now 1-2 with a 6.07 ERA in 20 games, and his WAR is -0.2.

Mark still hasn't played.

Pat was bad again in July, putting up a 7.94 ERA for the month.

The DSL season is over.

Jamie broke out of his slump in August, going 0-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 14 games for the month. The DSL Reds made the playoffs, and Jamie will be serving as a middle reliever for the postseason.

Jamie was promoted to the A Dayton Dragons, pitching in 2 games and giving up a run in 3 innings while earning 1 win so far. There's a week left in their season.

The AZL season ended without Mark getting a chance to play, and the Brewers just missed the playoffs.

Pat was called up to the majors when rosters expanded and has pitched 1.2 scoreless innings so far, serving as the top setup man. David Burbage was called up to be the closer.

Jamie finished the season with Dayton going 1-0 with a 12.00 ERA in 3 games. He will be a long reliever for the Dragons as they enter the playoffs.

Pat pitched another scoreless inning 2 days ago against the A's. The Rangers are 5 games behind in the wild card race.

The Dragons lost in the first round of the playoffs. Jamie didn't make an appearance.

Pat has pitched in 4 more games since the last update, allowing no runs and 1 hit in those games.

After kind of a tough year in AAA, Pat didn't allow a single run in 12 appearances in the majors. He struck out 14 and had a WAR of 0.3. Maybe he can have a good spring and make the MLB roster to start next year. The Rangers were unable to make the playoffs, finishing at 77-85.

The Blue Jays won the World Series. Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Adrian Beltre, and Vladimir Guerrero were inducted to the Hall of Fame.

The Rangers fired manager John Russell after that bad run in September and promoted bench coach Rob Leary to manager.

Chris Ferrara retired. He came to my office and told me he wants to go after a coaching job somewhere. I advised him against it, because honestly, he's not very smart, not a good leader, doesn't work very hard, he'd be the youngest coach in the country by 5 years, and he wasn't very good at baseball. But he did spend 5 years as a pro, and baseball is pretty much all he knows. So I told him I'd continue to represent him and help him find work as a coach. He wants a job as a bench coach to start out, and I think he'll be a pretty easygoing coach with a conventional style.

With 7 months to go in his recovery, Jon was promoted to the low-A Eugene Emeralds.

My newest prospect:

20-year-old SP Ricardo Flores, 1/2 star potential, 0.2 WAR this past year at Temple, where the competition level is average.

Pat had a save and a 1.23 ERA in 4 spring training games but will start the year in AAA again, serving as the team's closer.

Jamie was sent back down to the Mustangs, where he'll be used as a specialist against righties.

Draft day! Ricardo was taken by the Royals in the 10th round with pick 296. He'll be the #3 starter for their AZL team.

Pat has gone 1-1 with 5 saves and a 5.12 ERA in 20 AAA games so far. His WAR is -0.2. He's angry because the team hasn't been playing well.

Mark was released by the Brewers on June 12th. They never gave him the chance to play. I bet he can find a team that'll give him a chance.

John has 2 weeks left of recovery from TJ surgery.

Ricardo had a bad debut, giving up 6 runs in 4.2 innings.

Jamie's played 3 games for the Mustangs and hasn't allowed a run, though he's only pitched 1.1 innings.

Pat is now 1-2 with 12 saves and a 4.97 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 31 games. His WAR is now -0.1. Slight improvement.

Pat was called up to the majors on July 16th after David Burbage was put on the DL with a hamstring strain. He ended up going 1-2 with 17 saves and a 4.58 ERA in 37 games, striking out 36 and having a 0.0 WAR. He's been bad in the majors, going 1-0 with a 7.11 ERA, giving him a -0.2 WAR in 6 games as a setup man. Burbage won't be back for another 4 weeks, so hopefully he gets at least until then to prove himself. The Rangers are currently 51-50, 2nd in their division but 11.5 games behind the Astros and 10 games out of the wild card race.

Ricardo has gone 3-2 with a 4.54 ERA in 7 starts for the AZL Royals, giving him a 0.5 WAR in his first pro season.

Jon has returned and is pitching for the AZL North Cubs. He's gone 1-1 with a 13.50 ERA in 5 games since his return.

Jamie is now 0-1 with a save and a 3.09 ERA in 14 games. His WAR is 0.2.

The AZL season is over.

Jon hasn't played since August 9th because of a sore elbow. He'll be back in 3 days, and the AZL N Cubs will be in the playoffs. His combined stats for the year between this AZL team and a DSL team were 1-1 with a save and a 9.00 ERA in 8 games.

Ricardo finished at 4-2 with a 4.14 ERA in 12 starts. He struck out 66 and had a 0.5 WAR. The AZL Royals didn't make the playoffs, so he's done.

In the month of August, Pat earned his first MLB save and had a 6.60 ERA in 15 games, striking out 21. His WAR is now -0.5. Burbage was sent down to AAA when he came off the DL though, so it looks like Pat will have some more opportunities.

The Pioneer League season is over. The Mustangs missed the playoffs by finishing in dead last, so Jamie's stats are final for the year. He went 1-1 with a save and a 4.05 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 20 IP, giving him a 0.1 WAR.

The AZL Cubs have advanced to the finals. Jon pitched a scoreless inning in the game 3 victory.

Pat, meanwhile, is in a certified slump. He gave up 4 runs in 1.2 innings in his past 2 outings.

Pat tore his labrum today and won't be able to play for 9 months, keeping him out probably until June of next year. He was put on the 60-day DL, but he ended the year with 3 scoreless appearances. His final stats for the year were a 1-1 record with a save and a 6.75 ERA. He struck out 32 in 27 games, and his WAR was -0.2. Really big setback for the 26 year old.

The AZL Cubs lost to the Mariners in the championship. Jon didn't make an appearance.
