Position players pitching: How can I do this?
So I'm getting my brains beat in 16-3 heading to the 9th inning and I want to move my 1B to P (he actually has respectable pitching ratings, tops out at 91 on the gun with a groundball tendency), and I can't figure out how to accomplish this.
The game won't let me drag-and-drop him into the pitcher slot. If I go to the lineup and try to change position from there, I can move him anywhere else on the field but not to pitcher. Is there a step I'm missing somewhere? (This is in an AL game with the DH active, and is originally an OOTP 18 save that I imported over to OOTP 19) |

You have to set him as a two way player. I believe it's in the individual player strategy settings. There's a box you can check that says use as two way player.

Cool idea which I've never tried, but I'm thinking you won't be able to warm up (much at all.) Will that cause a greater chance of injury? And if you do care if the guy gives up runs, I'd assume he'll be torched for the first 20 or so pitches. Definitely a nice tool in the bag if you have a two way player on the bench with a rested arm, or can send him to the BP while his team is batting. Awkward of course if he needs to run in to go to bat!

If you're down 16-3 in the 9th, what's a few runs more? ![]() At least you save a reliever's arm for another day (which is why you're seeing managers like Joe Maddon do it more: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...ing-experience ) |

You have to first remove the Designated Hitter.
That button is up top on the Substitution screen. After you hit it, things will behave as you're expecting. |

It does get a little tricky if you want to, say, move the DH to the field, so you may need to play around a little bit with the order needed. But yes, if you're in a DH game and want a position player already in the game to take the mound, you have to first remove the DH, and then play the rest of the game without a DH.

That actually makes a lot more sense. Wouldn't need a DH anymore if a position player is moving to pitcher. Thanks everybody.
