Quick update. Been working with Lukas via the Tech Support channel. Got it narrowed down to my faces.dat database. Replaced it with a face.dat from another save (that was loading fine, or you could create a new game and copy that over) and the save loaded up quickly...no long 3 minute pause. In process of regenerating photos now to see if it's a size thing (the dat file I copied was 1/6th the size of my original file) or if there was in fact corruption in my orig face.dat.

cheers to Lucas for the quick replies and troubleshooting ideas.

well poo. recreated photos for everyone and right back to a 3 minute hang during load. I guess it's just size then??
my faces.dat file is 68mb. anyone else have one approx that size not seeing a slow load??

in this case #.

definitely not because 68 vs even hundreds of mb. if you want to go back to teh higher quality files you replace, go ahead, but if you resized at all, keep it resized to proper x*y pixels.

try setting face pics to on demand? if possible for real pics and other stuff too? it won't load pic until you open that player up or look at their baseball card..it would add a miniscule amount of time to loading profiles for the 1st time only, but going from ~5-10,000 the first year and potentially WAY more than that down the road to hundreds, maybe thousands, that you look at over time should keep load times down.

coming to that conclusion. there are probably hundreds of minor league players each year that I never look at, so having photos for them is "meh". the few micro seconds it takes to generate a photo on demand vs the annoyance of a 3 minute load is probably worth it

First world problems I tell ya.

On demand is definitely the way to go.
