When do free agents start to come down on their demands?
I know it's probably not a hard rule for every free agent because of greed and maybe other factors, but what's a good rule of thumb for when in the offseason a cost conscious team should start scouring the free agent list for the bargains?

i think the most important factors are who is bidding and how much money they have. that along with experience with typical costs can make it easy to recognize good / neutral / bad contracts.
less interest and lower bids, the faster they drop. tidbit - even if they are demanding ~30 and the offers are only ~20, you must wait for the demand to approach your intended bid. beating other bids while demand is high doesn't accomplish anything. |
