Anyone Tried an 'Opener' Rotation?
. . . meaning having a staff where starting pitchers go at most 3 IP or 1-1.5 times through the lineup and then give way to along reliever who does the same, who then gives way to the normal late game parade of one inning relievers and LOOGYs?
I'd like to try it, and wonder if there is some way for the AI to do it rather than to play out every game. |

I do this a lot when the relievers are well rested, especially if the starter is weaker. I just set the SP to a lower pitch count limit. I also have relievers set to be pulled quick, but i suppose you could set a pitch limit on them too, if you wanted. But i find the AI doesn't seem to pitch anyone while tired at least with the quick pull settings I use.

you'd have to see if you can stay ahead of fatigue issues. if that is a non-issue during a 10-20game stretch, it's a viable strategy. whether it is better or not just depends on personnel.
anything sophisticated and you'll have to play games or at least start them in some cases. pitch count may work well at getting sp out, but it won't do much for the rp. even with a "40", no guarantee the ai uses them for ~2ip... might even be 1 batter. |

Allow starters in relief = On
Use a very low stamina reliever as your opener A charm is what it works like The AI handles fatigue issues appropriately
