Trade Block
As I enter the month of July, playing quickstart MLB, many players available through the trade block, however, my question:
Why are some players on the block who are solid veterans, playing for a team with a "win now" approach. For example, Arizona is in first place, they are in "win now" mode, yet starting first basebman, Paul Goldschmidt, is available. Goldschmidt has a slash line of .294/.396/.529 and is not a FA till after 2019 Also available from Arizona is starting pitcher, Patrick Corbin. Corbin is scheduled to be a FA after the season. Corbin is 8-2 with a 3.21 ERA and an ERA+ of 134. Seem right that these two examples would be available? |

Yeah its a problem even when you shop a player they offer a person that shouldn't be traded like their star RP |

To add though, San Francisco who is just two games out of the wildcard is looking to move McCutchen, who is .292/.383/.468. He is their scheduled to be a FA after the season. San Fran is approximately 4.4 million under budget.
Can't quite comprehend some of the movements, but it is just a game. |

In my 1994 Dynasty I am running, the Orioles signed FA Ron Gant. The very next day they put him on the block.
Scratched my head on that one. |

That doesn't change the fact that it's not realistic for a first place team to put two star players on the trading block. I understand the reason that the OOTP engine is doing it, but that doesn't make it an accurate reflection of the game of baseball.

It's nice that the trading block was addressed in this version, but it has swung too far in the opposite direction from what it used to be. It needs to find the middle ground somewhere. |

fwiw, it's not just about this year's budget. if they are up against the wall in any of the next few years due to current obligations, it will likely trigger a willingness to dump salary.
i don't think a playoff-bound team should do that, let alone a 1st place team. i won't say it never happens, because i'd bet oakland has, lol. |

I've noticed this as well. Seems like the AI just puts impending free agents on the block regardless of the team's status.

My current game in 2000 a team signed FA Bobby Bonilla for $550,000 and a few days later put him on waivers. He got claimed. Clearly worth the money.

I don't think I implied this but I certainly did mean to leave the impression Bonilla was a bargain at $550,000. He was worth that in the game probably about what he was worth real life that year.

A quick hotfix patch needs to be released for this serious problem. I'm wondering why they are not on the ball with this.
