Newbie Questions

Just have a few questions before I go ahead and purchase the game for the sale at 19.99 tonight

-spring training does it have split squads
- want to have 2 rookie teams if its 45 rounds like normsal what would be best for rookies size 25? on each if that is the case
- If the rookie season is say in June until october depending on the development do you move them to say SA or single A the following off-season or do you keep them on the rookie squad.
- How do you determine if you recall them up to the next level of ball or not
- what is a good size for a roster 5 pitches 6 ref 1 closer 2 c 1 1b 1 2b 1 3b 1 ss 2 extra if 3 OF and 2 extra OF
- if siming the 2018 season and starting the save in the october 2018 after the world series is that the best time to start the save for the expansion team to be able to fill the staff rosters etc
- As far as training camp I know teams have camp in say florida but is there a way to say schedule games before you need to get to your max roster so that way you can see how well your players do. For example every draft I want to be able to see how my say top 15 prospects from the previous draft etc
- how many players can you have on the SPT roster so that you are able to give everyone a look before naming your top 25 players
- how soon after the draft can you sign your prospects
- if say your top pick or any of your picks do not sign with you but sign with another team are you comped
- when it comes to international window you can sign them to the bonus is it better to say have them at 16-18 yrs of age right to your rookie season or left them site in your amateur roster until the age of 19-20
- do the players that sign to your club through international actually play seasons and gather stats like AB HR etc or do just their ratings improve
- can you say schedule rookie tournaments like 4 day tournaments where your rookie team plays other rookie teams before season begins
- I know they have like the Olympics but for baseball do they have like U17 or something tournaments like they do for hockey etc

Here are some answers based upon the default MLB setup. Of course you can play any league you want. Or fictional/fantasy league or different countries. Countless universes can be created. But I tried to give general answers to the MLB/Milb setup.

1. No split squads you have a Spring Training roster and all your starters play a couple innings and get subbed out. You can set spring training roster size.

2. Rookie seasons starts are different depending on the league. If you are playing a real world MLB and Milb setup. They have different start dates. As the Dominican leagues start before the other rookie ball leagues. Also not every MLB team has the same amount of rookie teams. Some teams have 2 some have 4 or 5 rookie ball teams in different leagues.

3. Based upon their stats and ratings. Everyone has their own way of doing it.

4. MLB roster is 25 guys. Say 13 bats and 12 pitchers or 12/13 is the most common real teams run.

5. When you start 2018 it is right before opening day. You can't rewind time and start after the WS 2017.

6. Once spring training ends your MLB team has to cut rosters down to 25.

7. You can pick the roster for spring training default size is 60

8. You can sign draft picks as soon as you draft them. Or at least make them an offer they might negotiate for a week or so.

9. If you can't sign a player you drafted rounds 1-3 get a supplemental pick the following year. Those players can't sign with other teams they typically go back into the draft.

10. Every year there are some international free agents of different ages you can sign them and throw them right into rookie ball at 16 if you want. Some people do that others wait till there 20. Depends on how you want to play and your universe

11. Only players that dont get stats are the ones in your international complex. IF they are in your minor leagues they are getting stats

12. You can create different tournaments if you want. A lot of players recreate the Arizona Fall League thats for high minors and not the rookie ball leagues. But its your world.

13. There is the World Baseball Classic you can add it to your universe or add any tournament or fall/winter ball league you want.

I usually set up the league expansion on the first day of the offseason, so usually a day after the world series ends. This gives you a chance to participate in free agency and not be left with all the scraps if you do this later.
