A closed thread will not deny me expressing my joy.

Sorry, but my joy must be expressed.

This looks to be something awful*, indeed:

I thought this was pretty great too (postseason game result highlighted in red plus links to boxscore and game log underneath W, L, SV, and HR). It looks much cleaner than before. Kudos Markus! And thanks.

Ahhhh. A tournament which the New York Yankees* are bound to win! Just what I wanted.

* Well, technically the New York Highlanders may also win, but that would be okay.

Loving the new tournament mode!.. Setting up all World series teams in a double elimination type tournament.. At least that's my plan.. I'll sim until I get to the very last round or maybe jump into an occasional game here and there.. Lots of possibilities with this

Out of the Park Developments has really hit a grand slam with the new Historical Tournament mode.I still play other baseball sims - yeah I'm a baseball junkie. That said, out of the ten I play, OOTP is the undisputed galactic emperor!

Great aesthetics, accurate play, freedom to play in this vast sandbox, play any season history, and so much more make OOTP THE baseball sim bar none.

Now, if in a year or so, OOTP can add a broadcaster as APBA Baseball for Windows did with Ernie Harwell calling the games in the 90's,, nothing short of an actual day at a real park can surpass OOTP.

If you are reading this, you shouldn't be. Go buy this amazing sim!!

I have been literally asking for this for years

As you may have surmised above, I just threw that tournament together quickly, using one Yankees team from each of the seven baseball eras (hence the "Bye" in the eighth slot) and specifically the team that popped up from the first season in each era. I did not actually run it.

However, why not? So I threw it back together and added last year's Yankees team to take out the "Bye." Below are the simulated results and the box score from the final game (click the images). Tommy John and Whitey Ford went head to head and while Tommy did not last the whole game, the 1980 Yankees "bullpen" led by Dave Righetti and Ron Guidry sealed the victory when Whitey finally blinked. Oscar Gamble was the Player of the Game!

Lee Thomas in LF?

He played 2 games in pinstripes, then was traded to the new Angels where played regularly for 3 1/2 seasons.

So opening day rosters only?

That's a good question. I would say, yes, it's opening day rosters and game-calculated lineups because I didn't take the opportunity to alter them when the game offered. Basically I set the tournament up and simulated but there is the opportunity to manage things more closely.

To your point, Thomas did not play on the opening day of 1961:

and here is the actual opening day lineup for the 1961 Yankees:

And here's the reason why the game chose Thomas as the starting LF for the 1961 Yankees over Berra and Lopez. I don't know much about how historical players are rated in this game (I usually play fictional MLB) but as I said, there is an opportunity to set up more accurate lineups and rotations in an historical tournament.

19.7.59 downloaded and installed.

You know, OOTPD spoils me to the detriment of other gaming companies whom I patronize. When I speak up in those other places, complaining about poor quality and service, I often hear "What do you expect? You can't expect too much."

This is what I expect.
