Double Switches
I end up with Position Players as Pitchers far too often. It's about 50/50 on if it will work or whether it will force my Position Player to complete the AB versus a Hitter. At worst, it should allow me to change the "pitcher" after the very first Pitch, but it will not allow even that.
What's the deal? Is this a User Error or are others experiencing this also? I bring in a Pitch Runner for the Catcher who is on 1B, Pinch Hit for the Pitcher with the Catcher I want to sub in, and I want to move that Pinch Runner to the OF. All of that is valid, but I can't make it work in the game. The result is always the OF I wanted to replace with the Pinch Runner as the Pitcher with no way to remove him from the game until the AB is complete. When double-switching, don't touch the "Pitcher" box on the right side of the screen. Insert the new pitcher into the proper spot in the batting order, then change their position from -- to P.
(There are some other weird steps involved if you're moving the DH to the field, but under normal circumstances you shouldn't be messing with the DH.) |

What about moving a Pinch Runner to the field after the Half Inning? Is there a way to get the Pinch Runner to take the place of a Fielder instead of the guy he ran for?
Scenario would be I want to Pinch Run for the Catcher who was the Pinch Hitter for the Pitcher. The Catcher got on Base. Bring in the Pinch Runner to sub for the Catcher. After that Half Inning, I want to move that Pinch Runner in to play SS and hit in the SS spot in the Order. I can't make this scenario work either as I either lose the Pinch Runner or the spot in the Order gets switched with the Pitcher. Basically the game forces you to switch places in the Order if you want to use a Pinch Hitter/Runner in the Field. That shouldn't be forced as it is an optional change. That's the way the rule works. Assuming the pitcher is in the 9th spot (doesn't matter which spot but we'll use that as an example).
The bench player (in this instance a catcher) pinch hits for the pitcher. He now occupies the 9th spot in the batting order. The pitcher is now out of the game and can't return. He gets on base. The 2nd bench player substitutes for the catcher, now he occupies the 9th spot in the batting order and the catcher cannot return to the game. Once a player occupies a spot in the order, regardless of whether or not he's played in the field, that's the spot he occupies. The pinch runner cannot be moved to a different spot in the order since he's already occupying the 9th spot. You can keep him in the 9th spot and move him to shortstop and make other substitutions as necessary to fill the field positions. Easiest thing to do would be to drag your new pitcher into the former shortstops place in the order and then switch his position from __ to SS.
