Nervous to click "play" for Game 7...
My team romped in the regular season and then dropped the first 3 of their first round best-of-7 postseason series. Couldn't buy any runs at home (in the hole early in each game), then got blown out in their bandbox park, so I was already starting to think of offseason transactions in my head as I started playing out game 4. And then...
![]() The teams were 3-3 head to head this season, so I guess the postseason results are pretty consistent. I thought I should post this before I played out Game 7, and it gives me a few more minutes to procrastinate before I go for it. I play out all the games so this is only the second full season I've played. In the 1970 season for my team ALL THREE ROUNDS went 7 games each! I won all three for the US title but lost in the 3rd round of the international tourney. Have you been through many Game 7s, have you won most of them? Any grey/missing hair?

Thanks...
unfortunately...
My pitchers scattered 15 (!!!) hits, somehow weaseling out of jam after jam but their ace only needed the 2 runs they got in the first. At least we didn't just get swept away!

Take heart. I posted a post a while ago about losing game 7. It's sucks eggs.. But the baseball gods rewarded me the next year with 3 straight World Series titles (the opposite of what happened to the Yankees from 98-01). Just bear down figure out what's missing and go after it again next year.

Rematch!
After Dallas beat my SF in the first round of the (US/CAN/PR) Roosevelt Cup they lost to Calgary in the finals. Now in the Marshall Cup world championship, we beat Barquisimeto from Venezuela, then Wahiawa from Hawaii, and beat Long Island (the only other team over 100 wins this year and who horsewhipped SF out of the Marshall Cup last year 4 games to 1) four straight after losing the opener of that series (and going down 5-0 in the first inning of game 2 on 3 ERRORS
). The rest of that series ended up being pitching duels all the way with me burning through the bullpen and lucking into a couple of big innings toward the end of each game.Dallas beat the Kralendijk Hornets 4-2 to advance to the semifinal and a rematch! So for this season the games have split 7-6 :/ Here we go again...

1) pay attention at a baseball game, and you won't be defenseless when an object is flying at your face. a bruised ego or hand is much better than a broken face. 2) what idiot (of any philly employee in upper management) saw that and didn't immediately think of potential and likely future lawsuits. they use 'kid gloves' for no reason all the time, yet this type of total lack of common sense occurs... one and the same problem, methinks. total lack of common sense abounds |

It's my Wide World of Base Ball... 8 leagues (divisions for OOTP purposes) of 8 teams each in the US/CAN/PR, and various leagues around the world set up roughly to correspond to population. It hasn't worked out quite as I'd have liked as many international teams cut players randomly... going to convert to v.18 once I finish this season and do the various bookkeeping tasks. You can see more information on a terribly-underdeveloped Wordpress site I set up here.

Sweeeeeeeep
Amazingly enough, I somehow won 4 straight over DAL... game 1 was a 12 inning nailbiter with both teams going into the last inning with 1 run on 5 hits... after that the games were all close but we never trailed, winning 6-4 (game tied most of the way), 3-0 and 2-1 in the big final.
Since 1950 when the Marshall Cup (international association playoff) started, only 3 teams have won the it and the Roosevelt Cup (US/CAN/PR) in the same season. It's actually fun to have a second title to play for, makes losing the US championship easier to swallow. The team from the non-North/Central America bracket is the Cardiff Dragons; the Welshmen are underpowered but they have a tough lefty ace and THREE other lefty starters, who usually give the Pacs real fits. Would be a bummer to lose, but nice to have gotten some vengeance against Dallas on the way!

I'm in 2022 with the Cardinals, we won 105 games this year and have been great in many areas, hitting/starting pitching/bullpen.
Takes us all 5 games to dispatch the WC Cubbies and after beating the Dodgers the first two NLCS games, we find ourselves tied 3-3 going into the 7th game. My best two hitters have been HORRIBLE at the plate and I've been using my bullpen way too much. I think I'll sit on this game for a day or two as I'm too scared to play it. They have their ace going and I have my #2 who has a d2d injury, so I have no idea if he will be effective or not. |

Good luck! That's another thing tough about these, do you sit a guy if he's terrible for 6 games? I just went through that with a guy that I intended to start but ended up benching in May or so that was terrible all year... the first game of the finals series I stuck him in for someone else who was cold... and he scored both runs in a 2-0 win! Those are the fun ones

Both series have been a blast, if not killing me inside. ![]() I was down 6-0 in Game 4 after one inning and crawled my way back to take the game into extra innings, 6-6. Twice I could have taken the lead and my 47 million dollar RF strikes out both times, very frustrating! He's hitting .143 in the playoffs. We ended up losing on a walk off. I picked up 38 year old Cole Hamels during the season and he pitched a gem for me in Game 6. I think I've yelled more at my monitor watching 3d than I ever have with any prior OOTP version. |
