Save Game As Feature
I just spent the last three days setting up my league for something special that I'm not ready to begin yet. It includes Division 1, HS and much more with accurate logos/uniforms/rosters.
However, I'm giddy and anxious. Is there a way for me to save the file under a different name, play it out a bit, then go back and open the old file name from where it is now. For example, if it's currently "New Game 1", can I save it as "New Game 2", play for a few years while it Auto-Saves under "New Game 2", then next week come back, open "New Game 1" and start from where it is now? Please help if you can! Thanks in advance! |

Make a copy of your .lg folder and put it somewhere.
Do this often. Make backups often, make backups often, make backups often. Anytime you want to go back and start from any point you made a backup, you can just move that folder back into the saved games folder. Rename it anything you like. Did I mention - make backups often, make backups often, make backups often. Good luck, enjoy your league.

Guys,
If you don't want the hassle of doing this manually, this is an amazingly good program to help with auto-backup of files when they change: https://www.ajcsoft.com/active-backup.htm |

I wonder though, should we ever make backups?

you can use the backup feature to make multiple archives of the same league at different points, but make sure you use a "copy all" backup anytime it's a new ".lg" directory or you are concerned about a gap in news/logs-type stuff.
after the first backup of any league, it's only an incremental backup feature. so, if in the context above you already have a backup but use the in-game feature to create a 2nd copy to freeze the date, after changing target folder use the full game backup or you will lose all news, box scores and asthetic stuff like that occured before the last backup of the league. need to reset target folder on next backup or leave the other as the time remnant. copying it to a safe location is easier, obviously, but the logic of the incremantal backup is important if you like your complete history and such. --no stats would be lost, only news, transactions, box scores etc would be lost. |

It kind of sounds like what your really want is to make a template. In the global options on the right side there's an option to save the game as a template
A template is how you set up your world. You can then just start a new game, load that as the template and start from there. http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...emplate_dialog has the information on how to use templates. Last edited by homerj; 06-16-2018 at 10:53 PM. |
