how do i correct a dumb mistake

I have been playing the game since it started- but here is what I did in solo play

I got the usual terrible trade offer and by mistake accepted it. I am playing in commissioner mode so I thought I would simply turn the trade around and force the trade. but the force option did not show up. so then I removed the player I lost from st. louis and he became a free agent. how can I put him on my team. he will not accept an offer from me.

You can go into the editor tab on his profile screen and, scroll down keeping your eyeball on the left side of the screen. You can assign his team from there.

You're best off avoiding the force trade option as trades impact team/player morale.

a back-up/restore could have worked as well.

is never "right before I did the thing that made me call you"

they wouldn't be calling otherwise, so it's a catch-22. i live dangerously. i don't have windows backup features turned on, lol.

if you ever make this mistake soon after loading up the game or willing to repeat the work you did since you did open it, you can always crash the game and it will revert as if you never opened it -- or since the last time you saved it or an autosave occurred.

no backup needed. just make sure to 'save' before doing something that could cause problems and don't save it if a problem does arise.

fwiw, do keep a backup too. the above process is much faster since you don't have to copy potentially multiple gigabytes of data.

He may be speaking of the bug where you can't force a trade if one of the teams is over budget. It'll be fixed next patch. Easy work-around is just give the team that will be over budget enough cash to cover the trade and you should be able to force it though.

My bad. i didnt know that there was a bug. i did not encounter it when i converted from 18 but i also did less force trades then normal and the ones i did do were in the offseason.
