League Realignment resets once new Season begins

My custom League Realignment resets to default once the new Season begins.
Can this be changed so that League Realignment becomes permanent?

Here's what I'm doing:

STEP 1 of 5
Create Historical League >
1990 > Import complete history up to 1990 > Import Real Minors > Career Play

STEP 2 of 5
Require Full Minors
Block Fictional Players
Require Full Minors
Block Fictional Players

STEP 3 of 5
Use OOTP Dev Engine
Auto Expand League
Hold Expansion Draft
Enable Auto Import of Financial Settings

STEP 4 of 5
Player Ratings - Default

STEP 5 of 5
Play Commish
Start Unemployed

Start Season

League Settings > League & Teams > Edit League Structure

Move Atlanta and Cincinnati to NL East. Move Chicago and St. Louis to NL West.

Generate Schedule > Auto Play until Next Year

When I get to Feb 2 1991, the Divisions are as I set them.
On Feb 3, they are reset.

Can this "reset" be stopped/changed?

Thanks in advance.

No one?

Surely there must be a way to make realignment permanent. Otherwise, what's the point?

Are you using the auto-expansion setting? If it's on, it's always going to reset a historic league back to the realistic setting every offseason, regardless of what you do during the season (moving teams, doing manual expansions, etc.)

I don't know why it would happen on the Feb 2/Feb 3 date, but that would be my guess.

That's probably it! I have auto expansion so it adds the Marlins/Rockies in 93. I'll deal with it until after they're added then go from there.

Thanks for the reply.

No worries, a lot of people run into this. When they add the Rockies and Marlins, don't forget that they're also going to split the leagues into three divisions each. I haven't played 1994 yet so I don't know if the strike still happens in the game - I assume not though.

Yeah, a complete noob here, really. I've now done probably close to a dozen "test" sims to learn though.

I've played through 94. No strike. BUT, if you play with real transactions, you'll be completely screwed...along with all the other teams in the league. The game releases the upcoming Free Agents from your team smack dab in the middle of the playoffs.

I wish there was a "pseudo-real" Transactions setting.

I can't believe it took me so long to find out about this game. It's amazingly addictive, even if I don't know much of what I'm doing.

I'm a noob too, I've been playing this version for about a month and a half but never played this game previously. It can definitely be overwhelming - I play as MGR/GM but I let my Asst GM CPU take care of a lot. As I start understanding the game and the rules more, I take more control. I'm also playing in the 1950s right now so I have the reserve clause and don't have to worry about some of the more complicated features like arbitration, comp draft picks, and the like.

How about after 1998 season in that League Auto Expansion is on but in real life Diamondbacks and Devil Rays last 2 Expansion Teams so should I turn it off?

I think league expansion will also include moving the Astros to the AL West and adding the second wild card, but I could be wrong.

Keep in mind league expansion will also auto change team nicknames.
So no more Expos after 2004

Unfortunate but the way the minor league db is set up there is not altering all the set ups from history.
NL and AL will be exact as they were.
All minor leagues will come and go and be there with the teams as they were.
if you try to change anything, it will all change back at the end of the year, add extra teams, the team will vanish and the players dumped in the free agent pool.

Been hoping for a long while to have the same freedom with the minor league DB as we do with the regular db,
my guess the reluctance has something to do with how the minor league players are being rated, and if the minor league is gone the AI won\t know how to evaluate them year by year as they come in or via recalc. the db needs to be more like spirtze\s where the players were all major league equivalents then the game slots them in to minor leagues as it sees fit based on how many choices we give it.
my guess on it anyway
