You can always removed the additional teams by using the 'edit league structure' option in commish mode. Then just remember to regenerate the schedule.
Or rather than restoring from backup, another option could be to restore from the autosave. 1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings (or Preferences in OOTP 11-14). 2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting". 3) Click "Open folder containing saved games". 4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore. 5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them 6) Open the folder called "auto-save". 7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder. Now start the game and load your league. If the autosave is from before the expansion, then you should be good to go.

Honestly, setting up / disabling automatic evolution should be part of the league setup wizard.

It should be disabled by default.

I agree, but it appears that Markus apparently has no interest in doing that since these threads come up pretty often. But adding a screen to the wizard that lets users disable it (or, at least, tweak what can and can't happen) would be a reasonble compromise.

I didn't realize that, actually. I always go right to the advanced setup because I prefer the granular control.

Automatic League Evolution needs a new name. Eve of Destruction comes to mind.

Also need a way to turn off Automatic League Evolution universal. It's tiresome having to click on each league to turn it off. It has ruined many a league for me.

the backup feature definitely works properly. may want to troubleshoot that a bit if the auto-save isn't old enough.

Personally, I don't find it that difficult to turn off the league evolution when I start my leagues. I would hope they'd spend time on a lot of other issues than figuring out a way to turn if off permanently in settings if that took more than 10 seconds.
That said, having it off by default would be nice. |

League evolution should be a winter meeting feature and let the user vote on changes...

I was able to delete the stuff, the only problem is that the expansion draft and submit protection list option is stuck on my MLB menu with the red exclamation and I cannot get it off.

I’ve also created several backups over time but cannot figure out how to upload any of them. Seems they aren’t there actually

Not understanding the target folder or league name deal. I have a backup that’s 145 game days old but it pops up an error that says I must enter that target folder or league name
