I saw a guy that in a storyline, defended an old woman from a mugger, got punched in the face, broke his eye socket, and is now out for 7 months.

I'm thinking he should have just called the police, but what do I know?

I could see a month for a cracked tooth that needed surgery, or maybe 2-3 if it got infected, but 8 seems a bit excessive.

you can die from an infected tooth. no joke. it can get in the bloodstream and lead to all sorts of potential problems that could cause death. never ignore an abscessed tooth!

but, still not so sure about length of time on that one, either.

I'd report this in the bug forum, this should obviously be limited to players on the Mets.

This is an injury that could only happen in baseball

Maybe it was a more embarrassing injury and they just said it was a toothache.

They should have come up with a better lie then. No one in sports media would believe anyone has to miss 8 months of baseball due to a toothache. The truth would get uncovered if that was the cover story.

I got a chuckle out of that. In real life the Padres Eric Show once went on the DL after stepping on a tooth pick in his hotel room.

Ha.

No, it really is toothache, well, technically. But it wasn't his tooth, and they couldn't put in the press release where he was actually bitten.
