Pennant chase and so many players go cold!

I have a one game lead in my division with 13 games to go and I have five pitchers and two key batters go "cold". Any ideas about how to snap them out of it? Do you sit them? Play them anyway?

I usually sit them for a couple games, switch them in as fielding replacements/PH for a couple games, then suck it up and play through it. IF, however, you have someone at the same position on a hot streak I play that guy instead as long as possible.

I once asked, and now don't remember the answer, if the "cold streak" thing is just an indicator of stats (like the W/L over the last 10 games for a team, for example) or some independent/arbitrary setting that randomly causes guys to suddenly stink for weeks.

I don't have proof but I believe it's the first option. There's a Hot/Cold tab that can be added to your home info page which details the recent stats of any hot/cold players (AKA why they're either hot or cold.) This is why the hot/cold stats don't go away if they're benched and not pitching or getting at-bats - because hot/cold is based on their last xx at bats or last xx innings pitched not based on calendar dates. (from what I have seen in my own games.)

Yeah it's an indicator of recent performance and if you think of any team that coughed up a division lead IRL you probably see lots of icecubes in an OOTP stats screen. I've learned to live with it and if the player is critical to the team they play. For batters I may platoon when they don't have the advantage in that human imperative that doing something must be better than... ..

I can say that players on hot or cold streaks often have one game opposite the streak before returning to it. That's why you play them unless you have a better replacement. If you do then there is no problem.
