It also helps some with the tons of good FA RPs in FA each season.

Reading through this thread convinced me to buy the game tomorrow instead of waiting for the ASG discount. Cant wait to start my season. Already thinking about roster moves.

After being out of town for a few days, albeit with six games left in my season and my 2018 Cardinals in the midst of a wild-card battle, I played my first game. I have a two-game lead over the Nationals for NL wild card No. 2.
Game 157 -- Brewers at Cardinals at Busch Situation: Cardinals lead 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Tommy Pham doubles into the corner on a hit which should score Marcell Ozuna, who also had doubled. What happened: Games freezes as runners scamper around bases, while a white haze settles over the field (The little blue circle begins going around and around). In addition to having the lead, Luke Weaver had thrown five shutout innings before being pulled leading 6-0. It was his first start in awhile -- for his experience, he's had a high innings load and a minor injury -- and at 11-4 he's probably going to be my No. 2 starter should I reach the playoffs, so the game had played out perfectly from my perspective. After 2-3 minutes, I go to task manager and get a not responding message for OOTP. Is this an OOTP issue or a Steam issue? I am not pleased manager/GM. I had this happen with a game a few weeks ago, I was ahead, and on replay I lost and suffered a significant injury. If I have to replay, as it appears will be the case, if something really bad happens, the Gods may deem this game gets replayed again, again and again. It's too late in the season to get f'd over by technical issues beyond your control. (Again, I should not be that pissed as it is only the second time it has happened. But when it occurred is the issue). I make enough poor managerial decisions as it is. Last edited by rink23; 05-17-2018 at 07:10 PM. |

My belief is that the game freezes in certain cases or on certain hardware when you are prompted with the option to send or hold the runner. In my case, it does not freeze but hesitates and then returns with the popup choice. It sounds like this is the timing of your problem. I have no solution, just idle conjecture.

FRAAAAAAACK!
I knew this was going to happen. I just knew it. I replayed the game against Milwaukee which crashed a few days back. (I was leading 6-1 in the sixth inning when the game froze). I won 3-1, but suffered a major injury as starting pitcher Luke Weaver has been lost for 2-3 weeks with a strained oblique suffered while pitching in the sixth inning. I did not replay the game. I took my medicine. But I just knew this was going to happen. Weaver is 12-4 for the season with a 2.94 ERA and is probably my best starter, although Michael Wacha is 13-7 with a 3.87 ERA and I would deem him my No. 1. I will now not have Weaver for at least the first round of the playoffs and Wainwright is already done for the year. It's going to be tough going if I get there. |

Add on: After that win over Milwaukee, I dropped the final two games against the Brewers and the opening game of the series against the Cubs to fall a game shy of the second wild card.
Two straight wins over the Cubs have put me into a wild-card play-in game at home against the Washington Nationals. Unfortunately, my only fully rested starting pitchers are Jack Flaherty (1-2, 6.75) and someone named Chris Ellis who has yet to pitch in the majors. My guess, I will go with Flaherty on a leash so short, you cannot see it without a micoscope as my bullpen is fairly rested. Last edited by rink23; 05-19-2018 at 02:18 PM. |

We are in 2021 now and Sean Newcomb is our Ace. Martinez is gone and we welcomed LF Willie Calhoun to our team.
We picked up Adam Eaton on the cheap as someone to come off the bench depending on how Bader does. Well, Bader is not doing well and Eaton is off to a tear so far! The Cubs let Quintana and Lester go to FA and appear to have some series pitching issues this season, coming off their World Series Championship. They have the money, but they are not spending it this season. |

This one's for you, Airdrop01. Royals get fleeced? We'll see how the players perform before judging it, but it is another trade where I give up literally nothing and get a useful player - albeit a rental this time.
Herrera is rated as the #29 closer, but I suspect that he is going to pitch much better than that for me. At the very least, he will surely pitch much better than Holland. |

A season which I started on April 12 (in the real world, I play out all nine innings of every game, so it took two months and eight days), ended Saturday night when my version the 2018 Cardinals lost 4-2 in 10 innings to the Washington Nationals in an NL wild-card play-in game.
Washington led 2-0 when Tommy Pham hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning off Enny Romero to tie it. The Nationals took the lead in the top of the 10th when Victor Robles, who had an RBI double off Jack Flaherty in the second inning to open the scoring, hit a one-out solo homer off Cardinals closer Dominic Leone. Matt Weiters later reached on a one-out single and scored on a Trea Turner double, all off Leone. Jose Martinez reached on an error to open the bottom of the 10th, but reliever Trevor Gott retired the next three to end it. Manny Machado, in probably his last at bat of his only season as a Cardinal, hit into a 6-4 fielder's choice to end it. Disappointing end to a season, where I led the NL Central until late June, and at one point was 20 games over .500. But injuries to Adam Wainwright and Luke Weaver, who would have started this game and has been my most consistent starter, hurt, the offense went stagnant in September and the bullpen, which had probably been my strength, struggled down the stretch. I will probably play a 2019 season. I just need to see how the postseason plays out and formulate a plan on how I want to move forward. Last edited by rink23; 05-20-2018 at 01:50 AM. |

Bader is hitting .400 in my game on June 4th.
Granted, he's only been starting two weeks now, but that is incredible. I had to force sit Pham because he's hitting .130. Maybe I'll look into trading him. Moved Wainwright to the bullpen also to make room for Reyes to enter the rotation. Wacha went down with a arm injury and he's out for 5 months. Rotation is Martinez, Mikolas, Flaherty, Reyes, and Weaver. Also, Matheny is hell-bent on starting Kelly over Molina, and he's keeping DeJong batting 8th depsite him being 2nd on my team in homeruns behind Ozuna. Well, I just slogged my way through setting my Cardinals up for their 2019 season.
Big move was bringing in Bryce Harper to play right field and Andrelton Simmons at shortstop. You can check out my thread, http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=289810, which has a lot more details in the Dynasty forum. I have spent way too much time on this and need some sleep. |

June 12, 2018: Marcell Ozuna (.284/.343/.488, 13 HR, 46 RBI) just went on the D/L for 5 weeks with elbow inflammation. I brought up Tyler O'Neill to replace him in left field, but he is a rookie. Maybe he will tear it up for a while, like he is doing in real life, but can he keep it up for 5 weeks?
Baltimore will give me Manny Machado for Wacha, Gyorko, and Jose Martinez. I could bring up Flaherty and Voit to replace Wacha and JMart, and of course Machado replaces Gyorko at third (or shortstop with DeJong moving to third). Baltimore will also accept Weaver, Kelly, and JMart, but that deal makes it harder for me to sign Machado. Next year's budget would be pretty tight with the arbitration estimate for Wacha ($8M) and Gyorko's salary ($8M) still on the books. I could almost pay for Machado's 2019 salary between the three players in the first deal. Harper is unavailable in my game, because the Nationals signed him to an extension. So it is Machado or Donaldson if I am to obtain a "Top 20 Player", and Machado is a lot younger. Very tempting... |

Was wondering, did anyone else edit Jose Martinez ratings, especially on the defensive end?
My version pegs him with gold glove potential at 1B and the corner outfield spots. But we all know, Martinez makes Matt Carpenter look like a defensive wiz. Offensively, his OBP and avg. are pretty close -- although his career sample size in the bigs is still fairly small -- but he doesn't have the power as his IRL counterpart. Did you edit him or just take advantage of the defensive upgrade? |
