What does placing a player for assignment mean
And what does it mean to place him on waivers? Little confused by this. I have a guy who I placed in AAA after his injury was healed and he came off DL. Now he is ready to come back up and I dont know what to do with him as I have no room on my 25 man roster and he is already on my 40 man. Please help

Designating for assignment just basically means "put this guy in limbo until I figure out what to do with him."
Where do you want this player? He must have a major league contract. Does he have any option years left? Is he in one now? All this is in the "Contract" section of his profile. |

Yes he has It expires after 2021 season Jacoby Ellsbury and the thing is I have Gardner in LF and I think Gardner is better but then again I’m new to the game and still becoming familiar with the rating system etc. so I don’t know what to do with him lol. Oh and what is Option years mean? Sorry for the newbie question I really want to learn this game because I’m addicted to it right now and I have no clue what I’m doing really so I can imagine it’s only going to get better once I get more of an understanding. Don't worry, it's a complex game.
You'll get better. I'm new and still learning.Ellsbury is an overpaid veteran. You won't be able to send him to the minors, he'll refuse. Your choices are basically to carry him as a bench player -- I feel your pain as I am in my second year stuck with Prado at $15m -- or try to trade him (but good luck with that). Not sure what year it is for you but you may not be able to trade him either if he has 5 years with you. Last edited by Qeltar; 05-13-2018 at 02:19 PM. |

You can try to trade him but you probably have to carry him or release him and eat his contract.
