Shortened Games in Minor League Doubleheader
Couldn't find any concrete answers on whether doubleheaders in minor league games in OOTP 19 are shortened to 7 innings, guessing they aren't, but figured I would ask.

No, this aspect of the minors (along with several others) is not recreated by OOTP at present. It's unfortunate, as it removes some of the distinctiveness that the minors have in real life.

With any luck that rule gets reversed before the devs get a chance to implement it.

Once the season is over, the data can be compared to last year to see if the new rule resulted in an substantive reduction in the percentage of extra inning games going beyond 10 innings. |

They were especially exciting, when, as a child, games from California sometimes didn't end until 2AM Central Time. Those tubes in the radio were burnin' late. Definite baseball excitement. But I do like to see how clubs manage their teams in extra innings. Sometimes I think a few managers want to go to the guy in the 4th row behind 3rd, and ask him if he wanted to throw a few .. .. |

For historical context, doubleheaders in the minors used to be two 9-inning games. Later, this was changed to one 9-inning game and one 7-inning game (though, strangely, sometimes the first game was 7 innings, and other times the second game was 7 innings; I'll have to dig into this more at some point). Finally, doubleheaders were changed to two 7-inning games.
There are some exceptions, however, Separate admission, day-night doubleheaders are still sometimes played as two 9-inning games; other times either the day or night game is reduced to 7 innings while the other game remains 9 innings. |
