Newish player and a dumb questions.

Better ask dumb questions then make dumb mistakes.

I have done well in previous versions (I own OotP17) where I won a world series in a fantasy league and had some fun times, but have a few questions as I dive into my newly purchased OotP19. Note, I am one of those crazy folks who doesn't like baseball but likes OotP

1. How do you play OotP? I generally play as a role limited GM, but was curious on how others play. Do you watch every game, or do you simulate weeks at a time?

2. One of my peeves was that if I let the assistant handle the minors, sometimes he would release folks outright to go to the minors that are worthy of a trade, and I only got a notice when some team makes a claim and it too late for me to stop it. does 19 have a way to stop this without me managing the entire minor leagues?

3. Any recommendations for someone who new to 19 but has about 60 hours in 17?

4. If I am going to start my fantasy league way in the past (i started leagues in the 1800s before.) should I start with a small number of teams or just go ahead and make say, a 24 team league?

Thanks

Have fun, make mistakes, try to learn from your mistakes but keep going forward with your league.

Try different ideas until you find a setup that suits the way you want to play.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. The worst thing that can happen is you blow up your league and start again as we all have many, many times.

Take as much or as little control of your team and league as you want, I find it easier to play in commissioner mode. Not to cheat because you are only cheating yourself in the long run. In that mode you can make league wide changes very quickly and see the results of changes on the league.

Start you fantasy league with as many teams as you want, I find starting smaller allows for quicker immersion because you get know the teams and players in a shorter time period. Then you will learn, when it is time, how to expand the league.

Ask questions, the people in here are the best resource available, you can be almost sure someone has at least tried something similar to an idea you have for your league. Read things in these forums they give me ideas not all of which are good ideas.

Remember have fun, your league, your way.
