Any way to tame the size of my league folder?

It's sitting at 2 GB and tens of thousands of files. I had read somewhere that when the new year rolled over on Jan 1 it would clear out old news and other stuff I don't need, but it didn't.

I have searched online extensively and received a lot of conflicting information, some pertaining to different versions.

Any advice appreciated before I just go in there with the hacksaw.

Edit: Looks like most of it is boxscores and logs. I think I had it set to save way too much of that stuff. I'm assuming I can just go in and delete those, that's like 35,000 files or something. But I'm hoping there's something safer built into the game to do a "new year's purge."

Check your almanac settings.

This is the post on the topic I copied last year. Basically, you can delete a lot of the text items.

Clear out the junk in these directories each offseason.

In the Documents \ Out of the Park Developments \ OOTP Baseball 18 \ saved_games \ your save folder:

Empty the "replays" and "messages" folders (the latter unless there's something in your inbox you want to keep).

Go to news\txt and empty "leagues" and "teams," then news\html and empty "box_scores," "game_logs," "leagues," "players," and "teams."

Unnecessary clutter that certainly does build up over time.

Scott I actually had the almanac enabled thinking that it would use that as a summary of the previous year's data, but instead it ballooned the save game to 3x the size so I rolled that back.
