Skin issue.

Just wondering if anyone is having a similar issue.

When I download the dark skin from add on central if i rebuild the skin.bin file the red notification icons for anything ie. email notification, don't show up anymore. Also in game the red out dots don't show up anymore. Iv'e tried it a bunch of times and don't change anything in the skin folder but rebuilding the skin.bin file breaks those graphics every time. Am I doing something wrong?

After you download, did you install it successfully?

If yes, why did you rebuild the skin.bin?

Is it because you put some custom images in?

If so, that may be the problem.

Will await reply before further investigating the problem.

I initially rebuilt the skin.bin file to change 2 images in the game_screen_modern folder and thats when I noticed the problem.

I did what I've done the last few years with OOTP. You have to download the skin files from add on central so that you can access the skin folders and then I overwrote these 2 files in the game_screen_modern folder which is in the style set folder in the dark skin folder. You then delete the skin.bin file and relaunch the game as administrator and the game rebuilds the skin.bin file.

The game shows my scoreboard images great but now this happens:

So just to test it I reinstalled the game and everything was back to normal then redownloaded the dark skin from add on central and rebuilt the skin.bin file without changing any of the files in the skin so I could eliminate the possibility that it was my images that were messing it up. After I did that the same problem happened which makes me think it is a problem with the dark skin download from add on central. Also the out dots are red and the notification are red as well so I wonder if there is a "red" file missing from the add on central download? Any help would be appreciated I love modding the scoreboards and can live without the notifications working but not displaying the outs is an issue.

Install the Dark skin again and do not rebuild the skinbin file. Load the game and see if they're ok. Do this first before modding the images or rebuilding the skin bin.

Let me know if it looks ok then.

Also, what is your screen resolution?

Super appreciate the help.

Not sure what you mean by reinstall the skin? If you don’t delete the skin.bin file nothing changes. The only way to get it so those issues don’t happen is to reinstall the game because it then loads the default dark skin that comes with the game. The only other place to get the skin files is from the add on central download. And the only way to install that download is by rebuilding the skin.bin file. You can change, delete, do anything you want to those skin files and nothing in game will change until you rebuild the skin.bin file.

1920x1080 resolution

This is incorrect. When you download the default skins from OOTP Mods in game, after you download you are prompted to install the skin. You do so and that is it. You do not delete the skin.bin and rebuild it.

The only time you want to do that is if you're modding the skin with your own images.

What I'm trying to determine is if the default worked fine for you without issues. Once that's sorted I can try a few more things to fix your problem.

Sorry for being repetitive, but it's a process of elimination with some of this stuff.

got ya!!

I downloaded and selected reinstall and the same things aren't working. I looked in the game_screen_modern folder and everything is back to all default files so it should be working. Do you think maybe that skin download is the problem? I wish I could see the folder of the default skin that the game uses when you install to compare because that works.

Kind of waiting for the patch to be released this week. I know there were several people had problems with the Dark Skin and icons missing. Hoping this will be fixed in the patch. - http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ight=Dark+Skin
