1909 facepack uploaded
The next in my series of facepacks - 1909- has been uploaded to OOTPLinks.com
It contains 88 images of players who made their major league debut in 1909. I have also included the list of players I am missing (and will do so on all future sets) in hopes someone can help me find them. Here are the missing players from 1909 Les Backman P 1909-10 SLN 47 career games Cuke Barrows OF 1909-12 CHA 32 career games Joe Bernard 1909 SLN 1game Coonie Blank 1909 SLN 1 game Ray Brown 1909 CHN 1 game Jack Bushelman P 1909-1912 Cin/Bos 7 games Tom Cantwell P 1909-10 Cin 8 games Chet Carmichael P 1909 Cin 2 games Dick Carroll P 1909 NYY 2 games Bill Cooney P-OF 1909-10 Bsn 13 games Ned Crompton OF 1909-10 SLB,Cin 17 games Tom Crooke 1B 1909-10 Wsh 11 games Jim Curry 2B 1909-18 PhA,Det,NYY 10 games George Daly P 1909 NYG 3 games Bill Dam OF 1909 BSN 1 game Eddie Dent P 1909-12 BKN 12 games Walt DeVoy OF 1909 SLB 19 games Walt Doane P 1909-10 Cle 7 games Red Downey OF 1909 Bkn 17 games Charlie Enright SS 1909 SLN 3 games chick Evans P 1909-10 BSN 17 games Sam Fletcher P 1909,12 BKN,CIN 3 games Bill Foreman P 1909-10 Wsh 3 games Ben Froelich C 1909 PHN 1 game Eddie Higgins P 1909-10 SLN 18 games Joe Hovlik P 1909-11 Wsh-CHW 16 games Paul Howard OF 1909 Bos 6 games Bert James OF 1909 SLN 6 games Speed Kelly 3B 1909 Wsh 14 games Al Klawitter P 1909-13 NYG,Det 15 games Mike Konnick C 1909-10 Cin 3 games John Kull P 1909 PHA 1 game Jul Kustus OF 1909 BKN 53 games ed Larkin C 1909 PHA 2 games Bunny Madden C 1909-11 BOS,PHI 56 games Doc Martel C 1909-10 PHI,BSN 34 games William Matthews P 1909 BOS 5 games Bill McCorry P 1909 SLB 2 games Steve Melter P 1909 SLN 23 games Leo Meyer SS 1909 Bkn 7 games Warren Miller OF 1909,11 Wsh 47 games Forrest More P 1909 SLN BSN 29 games Bill Moriarty SS 1909 Cin 6 games Howard Murphy OF 1909 SLN 25 games Milo Netzel 3B 1909 Cle 10 games Joe Ohl P 1909 Wsh 4 games Harry Otis P 1909 Cle 5 games Claire Patterson OF 1909 Cin 4 games Si Pauxtis C 1909 Cin 4 games Tom Raftery OF 1909 Cle 8 games John Raleigh P 1909-10 SLN 18 games Harry Redmond 2B 1909 Bkn 6 games. Likely it will require someone with a scanner and a copy of a book like Marc Okkonen's Baseball Memories: 1900-1909. I recently found a copy of his book on the 1930's and will be using it to fill in most of the missing players from that decade as soon as I replace my scanner. Below is Barney Reilly, a veteran of 12 major league games all with the White Sox, from the 1909 set.

I have been intensely curious as to the sites you peruse to gather these outstanding images. The number of players you are able to uncover images for and the quality of these photos is superb. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and a treasure for historical simmers.

Thanks. It has almost become an obsession now to get a photo of every player to ever play major league baseball.
Many of the images come from ebay and many come from my own personal collection of Conlon Cards and old baseball books. Others come from google search and sites like the following: www.corbis.com - decent collection mainly of better known players http://memory.loc.gov/ - use the search engine to find a ton of great images shot by the Chicago Daily News from 1900-1930 http://oaklandoaks.tripod.com/homepage.html Nice collection of images of PCL players, many of whom briefly played in the majors. Links to San Francisco Seals and Sacramento Solons sites as well. http://www.attheplate.com/wcbl/1950_1.htm - Great collection of images from the Western Canada League of the 1950's. It included a number of future major leagues plus a bunch of future NHL stars. www.1918redsox.com A site with images of all players on the 1918 Red Sox. Others came from many varied sites and from a few SABR members I have emailed for help. I now have over 20,000 different baseball images saved on cdrom since I started this project nearly 2 years ago. I am a huge fan of baseball history (likewise hockey and football) and I have learned so much about the game and many obscure players during this search.

You might have noticed this already, but Matthew Fulling's latest update includes a Larry Pape pic.
