Bad Hitting Catchers - Fictional
In OOTP18 (or was it OOTP17?) there were way too many really good hitting catchers. In 30 seasons of my OOTP19 fictional league I'm seeing the complete opposite. It seems like there might have been a bit overcompensation in toning down the catchers. While the situation is preferable in OOTP19, it seems maybe a slight adjustment can be made.
Are other fictional players seeing the same? I recognize the possibility that it's just a flukish occurrence in my league. Last edited by Gorinski; 04-15-2018 at 03:28 PM. Reason: Added OOTP17? - Bad Memory |

I agree, most catchers are terrible at batting. Most that have been successful for me have been scouting discoveries and not drafted.

it was 2 years ago and i think they toned it down mid-year.
ootp'18 was quite scarce.. the best catcher i saw out of 57 years was 80/100contact 69/100power.. tihnk gap was 60-70ish too and an ~average or bit above eye. by far the most talent i saw.. leaps and bounds. but, didn't make it to majors until 24 and had a disappointing couple years before blossoming.. then only ~5 prime years... wasn't happy about that. it's probabyl pretty accurate to life or at least not as far off as perceived. i'd like a bump in them too, but not for any reason based in reality cause i'm too lazy to compare to any facts. i'm assuming on comments that it's the same in '19.. have not played it much, yet. go checkout some historical catchers, though.. you'd be surprised they aren't as great as you'd expect or remember. they are great when you consider the position they played and how hard it is to play that position, therefore few highly talented bats make it there. take carlton fisk.. lifetime 117ops+ .. not even close to an average ops+ for any other position in hof except SS, i'd bet. one of the greatest offensive catchers ever, no doubt. |
