High Rate Of Teams Selling To New Owners! At Least 2-3 Each Offseason!

Every offseason there are at least 2-3 teams sold. I've even seen 4 teams sold during the first day of offseason!!!!!

That's not realistic at all! Teams just aren't bought and sold at that rate!!

Can the rate of ownership changes possibly be adjusted in a patch?

I know Bluenoser addressed this last year in this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=276185

I'll post this in the bugs forum as well. Thanks in advance!

I have been through 3(4?) ownership changes in my tenure so far. A way to turn it down or adjust it's frequency would be nice.

Wondering if maybe things will settle into a better equilibrium.... it may be that the way the game evaluates ownership leads to alot of early changes in MLB until the owners the game things would have left already are gone.

Without a lot more info it's impossible to know exactly what you're seeing.

I’m not the only one who is seeing this issue. I’m using the default MLB rosters that come with the game. I’ve ran several different games with the default MLB rosters.

At beginning of each offseason there are at least 2-3 teams being sold to new owners. Simple as that. It’s not that complicated to understand what I’ve described.

This was an issue in OOTP18 but the frequency of teams being sold to new owners seems to be even higher in OOTP19.

Agreed. Normally I wouldn't care but the new owners can have wildly different spending and meddling habits so there's not much stability in the league when a team changes hands every season.

Agreed. It definitely affects how you play in Challenge Mode if the team you're managing is sold several times over a span of a few years.

Not to mention that it's simply not realistic at all.

As you see in the screenshot- in my 2022 offseason three teams (Mets, Rangers and Royals) have been purchased by new owners. The prior 2012 offseason there were 2 teams including the one I manage (Marlins) that were purchased by new owners.

Logic for frequency of teams being sold to new owners needs to be adjusted. The frequency is much too high!

Maybe a better option would to have their priorities change every so many years.

Could also just get rid of the whole single "owner" and call it "Ownership Group" instead.

The mortality rate among OOTP 19 team owners is absurd. OOTP 19 gets so many things right that it’s shocking when it gets something like this so wrong.

How many seasons have you played?

Neither you nor the post you linked stated you were playing an MLB game until just now (and not historical or fictional).

My theory is that owners are changing early in an MLB game, but that it will stabilize after a few years. I don't see many ownership changes in my long-time fictional league, so I'm trying to understand what's going on.

Its been this way for awhile. Ive never ran long term games, but every one or two year sim I do, there's always an owner selling the team or dying. OOTP hates current owners.

HELP! 2-3 Ownership Changes Every Offseason!!!

Owners mortality is an entirely separate issue.

My issue is with the number of teams that are sold during each off season and frequency. Playing with the MLB rosters, each off season there are at least 2-3 teams are sold to new owners.

I’ve seen at times as many as 4 teams sold to new owners in one offseason!. That’s simply unrealistic.

Your theory is duly noted.

However, as you can see from this thread that I am not the only user who has encountered the issue of multiple teams being sold to new owners EACH off season.

Whether this issue is with the MLB rosters that come with the game, or the game itself, it is still an issue. Also, I am not the only one who has posted about this in the bugs forum.

I hope Markus and the team can take a look at this.

I'd like to see how many teams are changing owners in about 2030. Like I said, in my fictional game, I see one owner change every few years.

For a game like this, you probably need ownership changes a little more often than real life. So what's likely happening IMO is still that real-life MLB has a bunch of owners that OOTP is evaluating as "should move on", and so it's getting those out of the way early in the MLB game.

I agree that either way, several teams per season early in an MLB game is probably not ideal, but I just can't see many other ways to do it without upsetting the long-term equilibrium. But anyway, it's not my job to make those decisions

Check out the years where teams were acquired:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...incipal_owners

There's been a gap since about 2012, where not a lot of teams changed hands, but before that, there were 1-3 owner changes per season for about a decade, with 2005 even having 4

This is still an issue. In the year 2025, four teams were sold in the offseason.

This happens every offseason! 2-3 teams are sold, I've seen it as high as five teams sold!

This is ridiculous!
