Hey Willis,
They had some scheduled downtime as they worked on one of the servers. You can check the powweb forum to get info on scheduled downtimes as well as service improvements. There are plenty of people on there to give you advice on all of your web needs too. |

i was interested in getting a powweb site. its says $7.77 per month, but says you need to pay in advance. whats up with that? will they actually take the full $93 from me now, or are they just verifying that i can afford it, then only deduct $7.77/month...thanks for any help. |

They will actually charge you for the full year up front. I think you'll get a few months free added onto that though. They are well worth the money and I highly recommend them.

1. Their pricing structure. 2. They limit their MySQL usage. If you are on POWWEB, you can't install BOSI because it's too MySQL intensive. 3. Their uptime guarantee isn't what it appears to be. Here's the quote from their policy: 99.7% Uptime: PowWeb has a 99.7% average uptime across our entire network at large, which includes webservers, mailservers, and more - as a whole. If a single server is temporarily offline, the rest of the PowWeb servers remain unaffected and uninterrupted, thus contributing to our overall uptime. In other words, they don't guarantee YOUR SITE will remain up for 99.7% .. they guarantee their ENTIRE NETWORK will remain up for that time. The 99.5% uptime guarantee I have covers your server specifically. If your server goes down for a reason under our control for more then the specified time, you get your monthly fee back. That's about it. I haven't heard anything bad about the quality of their service, their uptime, or their connection speed(quite the contrary in fact). Overall, it appears they are a quality company, and not a fly by night discount service (which I've seen plenty of, and what I thought they were when I first saw them).
