Stop Hitting My Players

I know it is only a game, but I am getting very frustrated with all my opposing pitchers hitting my players. I want to charge the mound myself, but .....

I have already lost Kris Bryant for 4 weeks due to a broken thumb.

We are 5-3 and we already have 6 hit by pitches. Argh!

I will get over it, but if I lose one more player........

i doubt its a problem, but just to make yourself feel sane...

at the end of the year, go check # of total hit batsmen. if it more than 10-15% above wht you see in baseball reference (average the last few years or more).

if it's within that range, it is ~normal variance for ootp with a 30 team league @ 162 games.

Yes, he did. I guess it was a sign of things to come. I was actually short by 2 HBP in my quote above. I forgot that Bryant was hit twice before being put on the DL.

I didn't think it was a bug, I was just venting as I was getting tired of the opposing pitchers throwing at my hitters. I should do the same, but I don't like giving up base runners.

Man, I think you’re right and it’s up this year. I haven’t run a bunch of sims, so of course, small sample size warning, but frick the HBP events and results of those seem to be way up.

i misspoke with "bug"... statistical anamoly as caused by a bad callibration of that particular leaguge total modifier... bug is just easier to say, less words etc.

you can control the frequency of such things in a specific way.. if it is out of whack, simply adjust the LTM (League Total Modifier) for HBP. also, figure it will ebb and flow +/- ~10% around an average as dictated by the LTM.

(if you ran it for ~20 years this average will be fairly clear... if you adjust year-to-year only do so if it breeches that 10% barrier from an average you intend to have. hbp averages out faster than other stats in ootp. i'd bet a ~20 year sample is within ~10-20 of the actual of the average with a static set of LT/LTM in an infinite sample. all from past experience, as always new version may be different)

if you got a lead, go ahead and give thema bruise.. in the video game it's fine.

anyone in real life that purposely throws a ball at a person to do harm should be charged with battery if they hit them and assualt if they miss (intent to do bodily harm is against the law, even if you don't harm them = assualt). it's a %$#@ing caveman response and it's dispicable behaviour no matter how it is rationalized. these are mostly "religious" people based on how much they thank god too, which just makes me laugh when they talk about this sort of thing and how they rationalize it.

same with hockey... if i stood in front of the goal and get a goalie stick chop to my groin, i'm pressing charges and have video evidence to support my claim.. laws are in effect on the ice and the playing field too... you don't get a "get out of jail for free card" just because you are a pro athlete.

why is it so hard for people to act decently.. i blame parenting skills, personally.. then it all dominoes from there... and even if you had good parents you are likely corrupted by society on some level at some point, lol.

then you end up with some narcissistic monster as your president and 60M people love him for it. ... or Brexit etc.. LoL a bunch of mistakes made by short-sigthed and overtly emotional people...
