Zeroes In On

Anyone else hoping they never see "zeroes in on" ever again? Almost makes me feel like playing steroid ball to make shutouts stop occurring. . Every year it seems like a new word or phrase is used to describe shutouts over and over and over again. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day.

It’s like that phrase “every year.” Every year, I hear it.

I’m sure the appropriate parties are always seeking to provide additional variety. Do you have a few alternatives to suggest? Maybe there’ll be a window between now and patch two to get a few changes in.

The shutout headline category has 135 different items. I see nothing about the “zeroes in” item that would cause it to be used more than any other item. Could be a bug if it’s occurring too frequently.

The same headline will be used for every shutout for a period of several days, so it just seems that way, and each of us likely has a different phrase we're tired of.

Looking at this again it appears that the game locks onto a certain phrase and then uses it over and over for period of time

Examples
_____________ pitches gem against ______________
used on April 17,18,22,24,25 and the 26th twice.

__________ blank team name, pitcher name winner
used on May 1,2,4,5,8,11,12,18,19

Junes phrase is ____________ pitches __________ to shutout win

Zeroes in on was July's phrase

And I'm only 6 days into August and the phrase for the month appears to be _____________spins shutout against _________. Its already been used 4 times.

but seriously,

i'm sure they will make a bit more random now.. i'd post this in bugs or .. isn't this volunteered to some extent? whomever organizes that would be a good point of contact, i bet. could pass it along directly.

is it happening to all the shutouts in july or just some? if it's not uniform, it's probably just like flipping a coin and you get a few heads in a row as opposed to a bug.

bug != bug type thing.. you know what i mean.. just too systematic in the use, not technically a bug either way. but, something they'd want to amend if it is happening in an unintended way but functional

I feel like those ones should be rare and something like, "PLAYER pitches shutout" should be the majority

if it were the same team .. you'd expect the same reporters to ue similar phrases

that isn't the case..

it's actualyl funny that almost all news stories come from teh AP and regurgitated by local news reporters... there's very little variety in source.. it's quite dangerous to the greater functions of the "free press". obviously sports, who cares if it's a narrative as opposed to reporting, lol. *not fake news, but something much more subtle and less conspiracy related.. merely an outcome of an overly-centralized source/power.

This discussion really belongs now in the bug reports thread. Obviously, something has gone awry with the text engine.

Scott1964 started a thread in bug reports forum. When I posted about it, I didn't know it was a bug. Glad to see the variety is there though, as hopefully this is something that can be fixed. And in the end it got us some wonderful musings by Tom Sawyer....a modern day warrior, mean mean stride!
