Camera Views - Request

The ability to play with and set up new camera views is an excellent one but currently, and particularly in the early stages of the game with regular patches, they will get overwritten by each new patch leaving just the original default views there.

I would imagine leaving that file out of a patch would be too much of a hassle so I just had an idea on what might be a handy option to have.

When you go to save your camera view and choose create new could the game go to a folder path screen like it does with logos/uni's etc. This way we could save it in the default path but then also save it again in a new folder we could create and call "camera backups" or something. That way all our modified camera views would be saved in there and after a patch we could just overwrite those files into the individual park models folder.

Currently the only way to save them is go into each model folder and select each .ootp3d file and make a copy. A bit of an onerous task given the amount of stadiums.

In an ideal world we'd be able to load in a new .ootp3d file into the edit ballpark screen but I imagine that would be a ton of extra work for you and maybe not even possible. At least this way it cuts half of the work and saves the problem of merrily installing the latest patch before realising you didn't back up your camera views.

I wonder why the patches over-write the park 3D file. Are they patching the stadiums as well?

OOTP patches are the newest full EXE file and not just files that have been changed.

.
Because of changes made from v18 to v19 this is the first time I have made my own camera views so I find this topic very interesting. I did not know my new views would be overwritten with each new patch.

Doesn't OOTP write all of the park data to this default location?

C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 19\ballparks

If so, I am wondering why can't we simply copy our entire "ballparks" folder to desktop (or place of choice) and then put it back in our game folder rather than having to select each ootp3d file?

Or maybe, as igor7111 asks, there are stadium fixes in there we would miss out on?

Thanks.

There are few other ways to get around this. 1) Rename your stadium folders or 2) copy and past them to another folder (best option) that you can create and name whatever you want. That way when you apply the patch this folder will be safe and not be overwritten. You might have to reassign your parks again but you'll only have to do that once.

Totally agree, OOTP has made 3D so much better, and to really enjoy IMHO you have to set up custom cams. Whichever is easier for OOTP works for me:
A. patch does not kill custom views , or
B. add a couple of new standard views
