Make a player with a birth year of 1976 (My age) have him start in HS as a player, when he retires after HS or After MLB, I then want to start coaching as him.
I want to then coach a HS Team for 3-4 years - This should be fun as players will rotate out and ill have no control. If I like that ill take over a college team for 3-4 years and then move on the pros.
Now I can do all the coaching starting at HS and moving up. However I can do it from a created player unless I am missing something.
If my Namesake ends up playing for 20 years till he is 40, I still got another good 20-25 years of coaching.

You can take a retired player and activate him as a coach. He'll most likely start off as a bench coach. He may eventually become a manager. Then, if you wanted to control his team as if you were the coach, you would have to go into commissioner mode.
I did that with OOTP 17. I simmed out a fictional players career starting in 1871 and then converted him to a coach. He then made the HOF as a player and won the World Series as a manager in the same season.
