Stealing 2nd Base
I'm new to the game. How come I can't seem to attempt to steal? About 80% of the time, I elect to steal 2nd but it says he didn't get a good jump. I get it that that is part of the game but not 80% of the time for a good base stealer. What am I doing wrong?

How much they get a jump depends on the player's speed and pitcher hold. So if your player has a high stealing rating but a low speed rating, he won't go that often, as those players are ones who know where to "pick their spots" but can't simply run on command. If your guy has high speed and high stealing, then he should be able to go most of the time within a couple pitches of an AB.
You can also use the various send forced or hit+run or run+hit options to send them, but obviously they won't have the same success rate. |

For your player attempting to steal look at their Speed rating (how fast they are) and Stealling rating (how well they can steal) the higher both of these are the better their chances. The main thing that is keeping you from stealling is the Pitcher. If the Pitcher has a high Hold Runner rating (how well they can keep a runner from stealing) the less likely your runner will steal. If the Catcher has a high Catchers Arm (How well they throw) rating the more likely you are to be thrown out.
