just bad expansion decisions

about the only thing I can't stand about this game that I love and will buy every year forever is expansion. I'd love to see realistic expansion (protect 15, lose 1, then protect 3 more), but I'd settle for good AI decisions!

I always bump scouting to 100% for the expansion draft, and do a run computer manager on all teams, in an effort to make the AI make good decisions. but, ugh, they just don't. Some things I'm seeing my first time:
-Not protecting your cleanup of 5 hitter, who is NOT on a big $$$ deal
-Protecting mediocure RPs over your 4th starter
-Protecting big $$, low quality players, ala James Shields

why? just why?

Expansion has just never seemed like a priority. The way it's done doesn't mimic real life and the AI decisions during what's included are bad.

It's disappointing because expansion is a big part of baseball and I think a lot of people would love to play as an expansion team in the current MLB system. But for some reason promotion/relegation, midseason tournaments, and other soccer features take precedent.
