This is the best PC stat-based baseball game on the market by far. I have always been a PC Baseball game player since the C64 came out with "Micro League Baseball". (Geez, I am really dating myself now) Over recent years before OOTP Baseball came around I was buying yearly versions of Strat PC baseball and DKS PC Baseball but I was craving for more game graphics they never achieved especially Strat. And, as of last year's OOTP Baseball 18 I had no need to spend any more wasted big bucks on Strat or DKS. I have always been a fan of graphics, sound and stat realism with my game purchases and OOTP 19 has taken PC Baseball to another new level even beyond the high level it reached with OOTP 18. The ease of loading the game, ease of loading of patches and the ease of being able to transfer game files from one version to the other is all unique for all kinds of PC gaming. Major KUDOS to the OOTP programmers and graphic designers etc are in high order for their continued achievement with this game!

I started a save on the Beta, then continued it on the full version. Then, I got the all in one mod. In the past, if you started a save prior to getting a FaceGen mod, it didn't affect games you'd already started. You could manually move around files, but I'm no good at that stuff. Imagine my surprise after doing voting for the 2020 HOF when Derek Jeter's, Barry Bonds', and Roger Clemens' perfectly rendered FaceGens are staring at me in my inbox. You guys think of everything.

Anyway again, thanks to all who worked on this game.

That's exactly what online mode is and it really doesn't take that much PC savvy to participate in a league (everything is basically done in game once you get it initially set up). Every league will also have people willing to help you out. Definitely get involved !

I just recently downloaded this game (day of release) and I have basically gone in a set-up a season and tweaked all the settings to how I want them to be, but the downside is I recently just got a full time job and I'm taking a couple of university courses, so my OOTP gaming is going to take a hit. Poor timing.

Seeing as I haven't really played OOTP 19 yet it would be pretty inappropriate to compliment or criticise any of the new features, but from the minimal gaming I've done so far it looks really good guys.

Have player ratings been revamped?

You need to read the change lists

Yes, we did some work in getting player ratings improved and more consistent. And we'll keep working as we discover new issues.

I did, but I must missed it or didn't realize how significant the change(s) was going to be. It was interesting to see some of the player ratings drop.

Before a game on the Team Preview screen where it shows player match ups, shouldn't those line up by POSITION rather than batting order? I think I would rather see how my team stacks up position by position rather than my 2B vs the other team's pitcher in the 8th slot.

And how do you propose that can be done since that screen is all about the batting order of both teams?

Absolutely, completely, totally, wholeheartedly.....I’m running out of adverbs here...anyway....AGREE!!! Please modify this. Who cares if your #7 hitter is better. I just move Trout to #7 and then my team has an advantage. That’s not relevant. Would love to at least see the option to modify if I am missing something about why it’s how it is. Other than your leadoff hitter, comparing batting slots is not relevant.

You could show both.

Get rid of the comparison then on that particular screen and have another tab for position comparison?

The comparison by batting order has no value imho.. ymmv. I played the Cubs so of course my 8th hitter is better than their SP. I just don't get where that makes any sense?

I absolutely love having the batters & pitchers in separate boxes during the sub screen, saving me the trouble of moving back & forth.

I haven't really followed why a comparison is done at all as the whole thing is irrelevant. I could care less if my CF is better than yours, same as I could care less if my hitter in the third spot is better than your hitter in the third spot. What is important is how these guys match up against the opposing pitcher. That was conveyed nicely in all previous versions with the simple overall rating next to the player.

I could quickly scan the lineup and see who is supposed to be a star, average, or mediocre and how they have hit against the pitcher I have on the mound. What else does one need? The order will show me where the weak spots are as well as the hard ones. Do I face three hitters in a row that have killed my P in the past? Or is there a weak link between two that I can exploit?

I play out all of my games and if a guy owns my pitcher he is, situation dependent of course, not going to be allowed to beat me and will be a candidate for many pitch-arounds.

In other words the batting order is much more important than whether my LF is better than theirs. It gives me information I actually act on. Seeing the batting order, minus the comparison, is the most realistic view IE it mimics any telecast ever done. Anyone ever seen a pregame telecast compare lineups by position? I know I haven't and the reason is it is irrelevant.

The team logos designating the better player are irrelevant to me and I simply ignore them. I'm not advocating this but if something has to be there, too me, it would be better to have a players "award panel" there letting me know I was facing a 3 time mvp and 15 time all-star. I could at least get me some immersion from that This screen is essentially the pregame show and should show the batting order. Now as I type that I am thinking maybe the award box isn't such a bad idea as it actually adds
atmosphere to the upcoming game.

It's a hell of a thing to have a game that is so good this is what we argue about

Pics or it didn't happen!!!

Seriously, what did it look like? I still want the OOTP team to motion capture the time when Nolan Ryan used Robin Ventura's head as a speed bag.

no fighting animation (from what I could tell) but they all ran out to the pitcher's mound & were moving around each other. looked like a scrum. was cool watching the 3 outfielders run in.

LOL @ the Ventura fight. remember that vividly. IIRC, when he joined the Mets, someone had blown that pic up as a welcoming gift & he took it all in good humor.

I do like seeing a quick comparison of the two lineups at game start. Sorry if that did not come across. Just think there is more value in seeing it a different way as well.

Ditto that. The new look/functionality of substitution screen is awesome!
