Fictional League Creation Help

New to the forums so not too sure if anyone will respond but I was looking for some help making a fictional league. I was thinking about an African League and help coming up with a name, divisions, and teams if anyone is feeling creative. But mostly looking for help with what settings to use. I was thinking of an NBA of NFL style playoff and maybe have a reserve roster or maybe one to two minor league teams. Ive only ever done major league games so Id really appreciate some help. Thanks

First of all if you have minors you cant have reserve roster its one or the other.

Also will your league include whichever nations or specific ones?

Africa is actually a continent containing many countries like Zimbabwe, Algeria, Botswana, Angola, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal and loads of others.

My suggestion would be to either create a league of countries I.e. the league would be Africa Nations and the divisions would be perhaps West Africa, South Africa etc with the teams being the countries. Otherwise you could have a small league for each country and then you could create a tournament where the winners all play in an African Cup of Nations?

Look at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ries_in_Africa for some ideas

I know that you can only have one, I just don't know which would be better. And I want to have a bunch of nation's, mostly sub-saharan. Are there ways to get player pools so I don't have mostly south African players?

I know Africa is a bucnh of countries, I was thinking of a league where I have teams all over the continent. Like ones in Cairo, Nairobi, Cape Town, Lagos, just all over the place. Is there a way I can do that?

I think part of it depends on your computer. Players develop while sitting on your reserve roster but the game doesn't sim any games for them. If you use minors, then there are games to be simmed and you have stats etc to go along with that development.

Are you worried about how quickly you can sim games? Then this is a consideration.

I haven't looked at it, but i'm sure the game has the African countries with city populations for cities in those countries. It would use that data to set up your leagues. It will use the bigger, major cities for your major leagues and use the smaller ones for your minors. You tell the game what country to source the league from.

You can set this up a lot of different ways. You could decide the teams yourself and do it manually. You could just take what the game gives you when you first add the teams to your league.

The possibilities with regards to setting this up are almost limitless. You just have to know what you want. Knowing what you want comes in part from playing the game and seeing what you can do with it.

Of course. You can put a team anywhere. Just decide on the configuration that you want.

I have mostly American teams, but I included teams in Alaska and Hawaii, but then also added a team in Mexico, London, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Japan.

I would advise figuring out how many teams you want (I always like doing divisions like the poster above said about west africa, etc.) and probably doing it on paper so that you can mix and match before doing it in game.

As far as names go, maybe try to look up facts about the cities you are doing and choose something that has to do with them (National animal, etc.)

When you are doing the team name, just change nation to, say, Egypt, and type in the city as "Cairo". When you're done, look on each team's settings and make sure it is set to the correct city.

Does putting different countries affect the player pools?

It shouldn't. There is a separate area for deciding where free agents and international amateurs come from. You can decide yourself whether you want them all to come from Africa or whether or not you want Americans, Canadians, etc. in your league.

If it's only from Africa, you may want to adjust the inherent ability of each nation because while somewhere like Venezuela might be a 4 or 5 star talent pool for baseball players, Angola isn't necessarily known for its players, so you might not get anyone good from any of the African countries.

This might have to be done after league creation. If so, I would just delete all the players after you make your adjustments and then add new players.

Then, of course, you could do an inaugural draft if you wanted
