Apologies I never fully understood the issue and still don’t fully understand the nuances of “auto-calc” and related functions....but in prior versions, there used to be an issue at the point when the league transitioned from “real” draft players to fictional ones generated a few years down the road.
Question: Is this anticipated to still be an issue? If so, can someone explain what the workaround measures are to smooth the outcomes? Just preparing in advance of setting up a fresh game for opening day. Thanks! |

I did a comparison between 18 and 19. Just create the league and let it sim on its own for a while.
It still takes 10-11 years to really get to a steady state at least for league batting average, but it only changes ~6% instead of the ~11% from last year's version. Definitely toned down, but still probably needs a good 15 years of simulating, then erasing league history. My current process is to create league, simulate 15 years, erase league history, auto-calc modifiers for each league on opening day for 5 years in a row, then erase all league history again, and then finally simulate some real history. So I start in 1955, simulate until 1970, then 1975, then finally 2018. I haven't attempted that process in OOTP 19 yet so it might still need to be tweaked. |

What if we started with fictional draft classes and deleted all the real ones?

It's a matter of taste really... the league is very stable from the start and also season 1 performances are no longer extreme (unlike previous versions), we made big strides here
So I personally do not sim ahead anymore, it's good out of the box.

C'mon, you are talking to nerds, here! an internet forum?!? rational?!?!
If it went up to .270 and could still drop down to ~.240, i'd be all good with it, because it could in theory resemble the various eras of real life without chanign LTM/LT. Still looks like a turnover is needed if you want a static set of LTM/LT. I don't like physics shifting . I'd rather the ratings change stats over time. I've got a neat little spreadsheet for it.Either way, clicking auto-calc every ~3-5 years for 15-20 years isn't so bad either. Plus, you'll likely set some records that you won't see again without extreme luck. Last edited by NoOne; 03-21-2018 at 09:08 AM. |

I did another couple of runs to test this, including one where I checked the adjust league totals and lock totals boxes on opening day in year 1 after clicking auto-calc. It does look like it's creating a cycle, but that's still too much variation for me. I'd prefer not to have different eras of hitting/pitching strength.
