CPU GM and Manager AI in 19 better?

This might seem like a silly question to some, but years past I would go and set up every manager and GM to the way I think those teams should be run, but I would have to go in and make trades because I felt like the settings I set GM's to or game plan for managers weren't taking shape which ended up making me control all 30 teams. While I will still do that I feel if it's more set up to go off the settings that line 10 I can spend more time playing and less time fiddling around which either way it's still fine but I just wanted to see from the guys who do these type of things with the game if 19 is better for how CPU decision making is from the GM and the manager point of view.

Matt spent a lot of time on the ai (although to be fair we do every year), so only makes sense that it would be better

Oh trust me I know. You guys are as good as it gets in any video game with sports. It’s more I have gotten older, so I want to spend less time dealing with CPU and more time playing, but everything I’ve heard it’s above and beyond what people expected. I’m just waiting for the first patch past the bata to start. Thank you very much for replying

No offense, but players like you will never be satisfied, because its literally impossible to have AI do exactly what you think should be done

Once again someone has misconstrued my point. I asked if it was better not perfect. No game is perfect I just asked is it better than last year? Fair question without me criticizing the development team at all

I cringe some years and stay off the board because of the consistent complaining of people trying to make it perfect, so I’m the last person looking for perfection here. Simple question that I have gotten great answers on which makes me really happy to get this loaded probably Sunday or Monday

If I may ask, can you define "better?"

Putting picthers in to early or taking starters out too early

Playing guys in the wrong positions late in games

AI roster decisions like sending guys and down that shouldn’t be

AI sending vets down to AA who still put up good stats

I have played since OOTP 6. I have always thought this game was near perfect because even when it wasn’t perfect. They give you the customization tools to do so. The only reason I ask is because when I first started playing I was probably in college, now that I’m a little older I want to trust the AI a little bit more so I can just play. No disrespect in my last post to you. That is all I was saying

Don’t know if this is in the relevant spot but I went through my first offseason just now and looked at what the top guys were signing for. It seems the “issue” where top players are swinging for less than they should is still around. For example Bryce Harper signed a 7 year deal worth about 17 million in average annual value. He was coming off a season where he finished 3rd in MVP voting. That just makes no sense. Also other big names such as Machado and Donaldson didn’t even hit free agency instead opting to re sign with their teams during the season, which is just unrealistic but I don’t think there’s much that can be done about these things but it’s just a little disappointing to see. Still excited to start my full games tomorrow though

Matter of opinion, I think. Players are just getting outrageous salaries IRL. I think real life is where the bug lies, not OOTP.

I would put this in a bug thread, But something like this is not anything I stress over. It sucks sure, but these guys can’t fix everything and if you let them know the chances they can is still 50-50 which makes this game
great

If you consider the teacher at your local school to be worth $50 million, then I would agree with you. Otherwise, Bryce Harper and every other major league player is way overpaid.

But there is a growing trend to re-evaluate these large contracts. We may still seem them from time to time, but it might be that this off-season is a growing trend, and not a blip.

for context, kershaw, machado, donaldson among others got large contracts, close to 30 million a year. doesnt make sense that harper would be the exception

I am now a HS AD who used to teach. No beef with what these guys make. If any of us could play in the MLB we would not turn down the money
