Player ratings

I was checking a few things before beginning my real season. Are the player ratings when you begin a new season always the same each time you start or are the ratings for prospects and such always different? It seemed my scouts one time would really like a prospect as they should and the file start not like him at all.


also is there anyway I can add Alex Cobb to the Orioles?

If you have scouting on, then your scouts will have a different view of players each new game. The ratings under the covers are the same, by scouting, development, and many other things will vary each time.

If you are talking about the standard MLB league that comes with the game, I think the ratings under the hood will always be the same when you start the game. I assume they can change based on your scout though since scouting makes it variable.

As far as Alex Cobb goes, I bet he is on the Orioles in the roster set that's included with the release today.

Thanks! I'll have to see how my scout ratings are in those sample leagues. The differences were quite large, like 1* to 4* potential

Yes, he's there I mean, come on, that transaction was like a day or two ago. With the effort our roster team puts in to update guys, he was probably on the roster in-game before the ink dried on his contract.

Because of my advancing age, and the memory depreciation that goes with it, it saddens me to ask this question since I have had every version of OOTP since 7, but so be it, reality is what it is - there will be an updated, accurate roster update following MLB's opening day, correct?

Yes, we don't stop updating the rosters. We'll have new and updated rosters multiple times throughout the year.
